Guest guest
jo- My son has seizures as well- I can't remember why, but honey is on my definite no list for him re: seizures- I will try to look up why- I think something about a special type of contamination which is related to why babies shouldn't have it....???? --- ilovekidsanddogs wrote: > HI > > Is it possible for honey to cause seizures even > tough my son is not > allergic to it. Guest guest
Sure it can. I don't have any scientific stuff to tell you. I just know that I talked to my husband's neurologist about my son...the neurologist is also a personal acquaintence. I had some questions about seizures as well even though I've never seen my son have a seizure. Anyway, he said that seizures can truly be caused by anything, and they don't know why certain things that appear harmless set some people off. If you think it is the honey, the pull it out to see what happens. I don't know if this will be the case with your son if it is an allergic reaction, but he may also experience withdrawal seizures from the honey for a time. I do have a friend whose daughter began having seizures in mid Feb. After a couple of weeks, they removed gluten. The seizures got worse for a time, and then tapered off. They still haven't rid her of them completely yet. They're not medicating her, and haven't eliminated other foods. I suggested SCD, but they haven't gone to that length yet. Anyway, I just thought I'd worn you that the seizures may get worse for a time, and then improve. Guest guest
HI guys, Most kids with a vicious cycle truly have carbohydrate intolerance. SCD is not carb free...or low carb...it is specific carb. Honey is a carb. When a child has carbohydrate intolerance, honey will be a problem. The gut disbiosis and intestinal disease can cause horrible carbohydrate intolerance, plus strange sensitivities to things....that can make seizure kids worse. We are having pretty good success controlling our daughter's seizures with SCD. In the beginning we did have to do a few things to insure that she was digesting her food ok. WE fed her only the easiest to digest SCD foods. www.pecanbread.com<http://www.pecanbread.com/> has stages that where helpful to us. For a long time we peeled and cooked everything, making it easier to digest the carbs in the fruits and vegetables. No beans, legumes, peanuts, nuts or cashews or peanut or nut butters too, until healed significantly. Elaine says to cut down on the honey and water down the juice in the beginning. Honey is a issue for many of us. Antoinette and family of Five (SCD 2/06)
