Guest guest
We used rotation/elimination to figure out what was helping/not helping in my son's SCD diet. The most offending foods are mostly found in the earlier stages, while the foods he does well with are the middle stages. We did not yet try any advanced stage foods. I don't see the need for beans in his diet and he doesn't like anything I've made with a nut flour (just likes to eat spoonfuls of nutbutter as a snack). I would like to make jerky and dehydrated vegetables as they would make good portable meals to take with us when we are out running errards. So I plan to try these more advanced foods once I get a dehydrator. My son has previously had a complete scope with pillcam and his insides were found to be pink and healthy looking, with absolutely no explanation for his diarrhea. The pillcam itself went thru him in 1/3 of the time it should have & his rapid transit got much worse several months after the pillcam. His labs did NOT show even a trace of inflammation despite the fact he was having diarrhea 8-10 times/day at one point a few months ago. Since he is intolerant of early stage foods, but has no problem with more advanced foods -- that is what I should give him -- correct? Has this also happened to anyone else? - --------------------------------- Be a better Heartthrob. Get better relationship answers from someone who knows. Yahoo! Answers - Check it out. Guest guest
Hi , How is he doing right now? Any digestive symptoms ? For how long has he been symptom free? Mimi
Guest guest
We ended the diarrhea about 2-3 weeks ago (except the day when I re-tested carrots). His stools look very good for him (1 or 2/day -- not 8/day). They finally have that " clumps of held-together poop shape " that shows peristalsis (instead of the smooth tube shape he previously had when it wasn't complete diarrhea) The " ball clumps " don't always hold together in the toilet and often they float now, but they are not loose or frequent. They are more of a grey color than brown, so they are still slightly off, but better than anything that has ever come out of him before! Previously his poops were always one color on one end transitioning to another color at the other end. The color is now uniform. I don't know what any of the my descriptions mean, as these are all new types of poops for him. I know there is still at least one food disagreeing with him as we had a bout of hyper/silly stuff this afternoon. I can't seem to figure this stuff out unless I strictly rotate. We have to travel in 2 days,so I am not really able to rotate and observe -- too busy preparing for the trip. - pecan post wrote: Hi , How is he doing right now? Any digestive symptoms ? Guest guest
, Congratulations for the improvements! I think that it is wise to wait a little longer before trying advanced foods. It is possible that the silly behavior is due to die off. Give activated charcoal; if that helps then you know it is die off.
