Guest guest
Hi all, I figured that I would add my input to the zofran discussion..... I take about 4 to 30mg of zofran a day. I get 90 pills a month without any hassle from my insurance (for over a year now) - although I am worried that they may eventually deny me my pills because of the expense. I have figured that they cost about 26 $ a pill; around 25k a year. If I get them filled under my husband's insurance, then I am limited to 21 a month. About a year ago, Walgreens sent me a letter saying that zofran was suppose to come out in generic form " real soon " . Has anyone heard anything about when this may happen? Or if there was a delay in the production? Or did the patent not run out........If / when they go generic I am sure that the cost will be vastly reduced and maybe insurance companies will not restrict access to them. I have found that these pills are as valuable to me as my oxycodone. I am like in that I take them prophylactically. I was told by my doctor that the first twinges of nausea should be treated immediately as zofran is not that effective once a full blown nausea / vomitting attack begins (zofran is not a " rescue " medication but a preventive). I am also curious about the possibility of becoming dependent on zofran for nausea control....someone mentioned this about phenergan...that the body gets so it needs phenergan in order to be " normal'. Does this happen with zofran? At times it seems to but then, it is hard to know if it is just the pancreas issues again.......
