Guest guest
I think there are only a select few of physicians that truely know how to treat pancreatitis. Fortunately I have had good doctors and surgeons here in Louisville, KY. My GI doctor specialized in ERCP therapy and after all my stenting and progression of my CP he referred me to an oncology surgeon. I was told by my GI (Dr. Kaikaus) that I needed the whipple so that is the reason I saw Dr. Vitale (oncology surgeon who specializes in the pancreas). He told me that he wanted to do the thorascopic splenectomy nerve division and it worked. I was on Oxycontin 80mg twice a day and now I only take advil prn. I am so thankful that he did this surgery and not the whipple even though he did say that I will eventually have to have but at this time I am pain free. Take care and don't do too much before your trip.
