Guest guest
, You wrote, " It got to the point that I was taking Zofran prophylactically several times a day .... Have you tried the melt aways? They are sublingual and melt instantly once placed in your mouth. I do believe the dosage is only 4mg. " I apologize for my tardy response; however, I have been too ill to lift my head from the pillow, much less stand to walk to the computer. :-( I am much, much improved. Yeah! I'll send another post explaining the details of the past few weeks. In this post I want to respond to what you shared re: Zofran and second the benefits of taking it prophylactically or as a preventative measure to avoid any possibility of becoming nauseated. As I try to avoid " self-medicating " , since that is not a good label to have attached to my medical record, particularly for a person who is also prescribed narcotics, I did discuss this with my physician. She told me that the " indications " for Zofran as stated in the package insert state that " Zofran is used for the prevention of n/v (nausea and vomiting). Somehow I thought it was to be taken if I was nauseated. It makes more sense to avoid n/v in the first place. I was not aware of the melt aways, either. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have wonderful health insurance, and (knock on wood) they have never balked at covering any of my medications thus far. (My ACTIQ runs almost $4, 000 a month). They cover the Zofran Elixir without any problem. When I see my MD next, I will ask him to switch me to the melt aways, Zofran ODT Orally Disintegrating Tablets.
