Suzanne,

Sorry I'm late in responding...little behind on the emails right now!!

As for your appeal letter, one thing I stressed in mine was what I was at

risk for developing b/c of the excess pounds and gave statistics for how much

I was at risk. I told them that although I didn't have many of these

problems now, in the future I most likely would and told them how costly it

would be to treat. It would cost them more in the long run to NOT cover the

surgery.

As for significant changes since surgery...I'm no longer ruled by food. I

can cross my legs now and I LOVE it!! I can wear my wedding ring and band

after not being able to for over 8 years (I refused to have it resized). I

like to glance in the mirror now and see the positive changes in my body. I

can wear some XL clothes now, instead of 3X or 4X!!! I look forward to

shopping! I am becoming more outgoing. I have increased energy. I have

much fewer migraines. My joint pain is decreased. I could go on and

on...but basically I am THRILLED with the HOPE that I now have!

I'm happy to be a contact. Just email your questions privately.

Suzanne-I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and

your message caught myeye. One, because I also am

doing a lot of research before I begin my process. And

second because I noticed where you are from. We live

inthe same town! I am amazed that I would find someone

who is so close.

Are you approved for surgery or beginning the process

like I am?

Suzanne,

I dance on 12/29, clinic on 12/28. We plan on driving down on the 27th so

we can get settled and catch our breath beforehand. We were thinking about

going to Topsail Island for a few days after surgery to bring in the New

year. We have friends that have a condo there. We're not sure yet though.

I asked Barb if it was okay to leave town and go there, but haven't heard

from her about that question yet.

I didn't know that about Vioxx. I take that too. It really does a lot to

help with the pain in my knees. I was told I have to stop taking it 2 weeks

before surgery because it promotes bleeding. I'm going to be miserable

those 2 weeks. I can't walk very well without it. I feel so bad for you

having to use crutches. I hope you can have your surgery really soon, too.

What is it you are waiting on? If there is anything I can do to help, let

me know.
