Guest guest
On the website, it says that pomegranate concentrate is illegal. But here on the list, I've come across several references to the " Just Pomegranate " juice being legal. The label says it contains pomegranate concentrate. So, I'm confused, is it legal or not? (crosses fingers and hopes that it is because it is the only low-phenol juice that we have found that works for us). Thanks in advance, K restarting SCD
Guest guest
Yes, it is legal. Don't ask me why, but I know Elaine OKed this particular brand herself. So, no worries that it is just mistakenly legal. Enjoy in good health. Meleah Is Just Pomegranate Juice legal? On the website, it says that pomegranate concentrate is illegal. Guest guest
Okay thanks. I was really worried because the BTVC website listed " pomengranate concentrate " as illegal and it is the main ingredient in the juice. Seems like a major contradiction to me, but I guess we will continue using it and if we don't see any major improvements, try pulling it out for a while. Thanks for the info! > > Yes, it is legal. Guest guest
Hi Please do be careful, watch out for any regressions and give us feedback. Let me try to explain the contradiction. At one time, a SCD online store was carrying a pomegranate concentrate for sale. Elaine was worried that juice from pomegranate might be too fibrous; so the online store discontinued the item. Later, Elaine approved the manufacturing proceedure for the Knudsen " Just Cranberry " . Since these juices are all made in the same way then most of the " Just Juices " from Knudsen became legal. Everyone who has used the Just PomegranateJuice please give me feedback.!! I might have to change the website and put " advanced " on the pomegranade juice listing. I am sorry about the confusion. Mimi. > Okay thanks. I was really worried because the BTVC website listed > " pomengranate concentrate " as illegal and it is the main ingredient in > the juice. Guest guest
Thanks for the information. I will keep it in mind as we go along. We will be taking it out here for a while anyway to redo the intro diet. I'll let you know if we notice any regression once we start using it again. On a related subject, what do you all use for making jello on the intro diet if you have salicylate isssues? Is grape juice the only juice allowed on the intro diet? Thanks so much for all your help. Guest guest
Just Blueberry is very low salicylate -- but not very sweet & quite expensive I use it with other juices to reduce the overall salicylate levels. Guest guest
Hello, I allowed my son 1/2 Just Pomegranete and 1/2 water a few times. I noticed regression in behavior but I thought it might be phenols. I cannot say for sure about the stools because I had him on VSL#3 and at the same time as the Just Pomegranete juice he was experiencing dysbiosis, I believe. He was reacting to everything! I believe the Bifidus got out of control and were feeding on the juice and carbs. But I am no expert. For my son, only SCD for 3 months, it was too soon. I also introduced melon around the same time and his stools were very, very odd. Now, they are green, light green. I am sorry I didn't introduce the juice correctly and cannot tell you more but as far as I can tell, the juice didn't cause any bowel problems. I have now taken him off of the VSL#3 and am back with SCDopholus. It is as if we are going through the first week of the diet again. Guest guest
Thank you so much for that information. We will be careful with it and leave it in for now until we restart the intro diet. For now it is useful because it actually tastes good made into jello without using honey (my son can't tolerate honey right now). It is the one real snack/treat we have going on right now. > > Hi > > Please do be careful, watch out for any regressions and give us > feedback. Guest guest
Thank you for sharing all of that. I have been on the fence about VSL#3, as we are starting the Vit K protocol, and the more and more I read the more I think I need to avoid VSL#3 right now and just stick with the homemade yogurt and the s. boulardii. > > > > Hi > > > > Please do be careful, watch out for any regressions and give us > > feedback. Guest guest
Thanks, I've been kinda weary of any berries because they are to be avoided according to feingold, but he does okay with cranberry, so hmm, maybe we will try the blueberry at some point. Guest guest
My son is not ready yet for the Vitamin K Protocol. We tried it out but we need to stabilize a little more with SCD. As soon as we stabilize we will try the Vit K Protocol again but this time SCD legal. I know that there are a lot of kids and adults on Vit K Protocol that stay SCD legal with the legal strains. Guest guest
Yes, that is basically what we are doing too, stablizing on the SCD first. We are going to redo the intro diet and go really slow on introducing foods. But I consider us having started the vit. K protocol because I am slowly upping his cod liver oil and we are taking butter oil and using raw butter from grassfed cows (which has some natural vit. K2 in it). I'm also trying to up his magnesium and his probiotics/yogurt slowly so that we will be ready at some point after he stabilizes on SCD, to start with the actual K2 supplementation. Guest guest
Hi <<On a related subject, what do you all use for making jello on the > intro diet if you have salicylate isssues? Is grape juice the only > juice allowed on the intro diet?>> Legal grape juice (purple, red and white)and apple cider are on the intro. If you double peel apples you will remove most of the phenolic compounds (salicylates). You could make homemade apple juice (pulp removed) from double peeled apples and then use that to make gelatin. Guest guest
Thanks for those tips Sheila. I think I might just try to make some homemade apple juice for use in the gelatin. -K > > Hi > > <<On a related subject, what do you all use for making jello on the > > intro diet if you have salicylate isssues?
