Guest guest
Sorry for you men out there. This isn't one you can answer...unless you're a GYN, I guess. I think I have a vaginal yeast infection although I don't know because I've never had one in my 32 years of life. Is there any way to get rid of it without medication? I'm not SCD(just my son), but I'll do it if that will get rid of the infection. Would that work? Is there any other way to get rid of it without meds? I'm very anti medication if at all possible...especially when I'm pregnant or nursing(which I am right now). Thanks. Meleah
Guest guest
coconut oil works very well for me. using it topically will give you immediate relief. you can also try taking 1T three times a day with meals to get to the source of the problem. silvia > Sorry for you men out there. Guest guest
Dear Meleah, I agree with caution about what you use during pregnancy. I once used anti-yeast vaginal med prescribed by a doctor who knew I was pregnant and I had a miscarriage. Can you consult with a naturopath or an MD who is open minded? I knew an MD in Canada who would tell women to use a capsule of acidophulus probiotic as a suppository, the capsule just dissolves (don't use enteric type), but I don't know if she would advise this during pregnancy so I hope you will consult with a health professional. The topical application of acidophulus definitely worked. Maybe since you are pregnant you could just apply the acidophulus externally? Personally for me, I believe that dong the SCD diet and eating lots and lots of the 24-hour yogurt would probably take care of the problem. If you have a lot of itching, take epsom salt baths -- but not too hot if you are pregnant. Hope this helps. robin wrote: Sorry for you men out there. Guest guest
Here is a website that contains many natural remedies for vaginal yeast infections. I have personally used the garlic method and it works every time! It works as quickly for me as medication. http://www.msu.edu/~eisthen/yeast/yourself.html If you have any questions, feel free to reply off list. Keli Yeast infection Sorry for you men out there. Guest guest
Thanks. I am going to try the coconut oil, and the SCD yogurt. I checked with a labor and delivery nurse, and she said that both would be safe for the baby. Guest guest
Hi Meleah, <<Sorry for you men out there. This isn't one you can answer...unless you're a GYN, I guess. I think I have a vaginal yeast infection although I don't know because I've never had one in my 32 years of life.>> If you aren't sure it is best to get it confirmed by a doctor. It may be something else (but probably is the yeast infection) and it is best to be sure especially since you are pregnant. If the doctor gives you a prescription that doesn't mean you have to fill it (a good back up to have if natural remedies don't work). << Is there any way to get rid of it without medication?>> SCD Yogurt and tampons - but since you are pregnant check with your doctor if this is okay to do http://chetday.com/yeastinfection.html Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs mom of and
Guest guest
I know that epsom salt baths can help. I don't know if you want to try that while pregnant? Guest guest
Hi Meleah, Just started Virgin Coconut Oil myself for systemic yeast. Just wanted to mention there can be nasty die-off symptoms from Coconut oil as well as SCD yogurt. (That is what happened to me) You may want to start with a very small amount and work your way up to that 3-4 tablespoons of VCNO. Same thing with the SCD yogurt. Guest guest
Thank you. I actually ate a spoonful of my extra virgin coconut oil today, and practically threw up. I ate it plain, and I guess the baby didn't care for that. I'll have to eat it on a piece of toast or something. Don't know how much yeast I'm going to be able to kill right now since I can't stomach SCD very well right now. I'm hoping I can get it somewhat under control though. Thanks to everyone. Guest guest
yes, i recommend eating it with protein. if you take it on an empty stomach, it might make you nauseous, like it did to me. > Hi Meleah, > Just started Virgin Coconut Oil myself for systemic yeast. Guest guest
My GYN recommends packing the vagina with yogurt and laying down with it at least a half hour during the day and then do it again for the night. That is with store bought yogurt and ours packs a bigger punch. Pearl My --------------------------------- Moody friends. Drama queens. Your life? Nope! - their life, your story. Guest guest
Hi, Just FYI: In the book " Virgin Coconut Oil " by Shilhavy, it is mentioned that not only is a die-off reaction possible, but also those not used to increased fat in their diet may have probs as well when introducing VCNO. I had a similar reaction to you, with nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, and sweating. By starting with a 1/2 tsp taken with a meal or protein snack, I did just fine and am now taking 1 tsp 3 times per day with meals. Hang in there because the benefits are worth it.
