Guest guest
Does anyone here suffer from or have suffered from freqeunt episodes of low blood sugar? I'm wondering now if this is the cause of these feelings staring back in the yr. 2002. I'd never had them before in my life. If I excersised too much like cleaning the house without eating anything, I'd get an attack. I couldn't even go for a walk on the bike path without making sure I'd eatten something otherwise I'd get an attack. The light headedness, the sweating, the quickend pulse and heart rate. my blood pressue will soar way above normal, my entire body, legs and arms, hands start trembling wildlly, I'd get the feeling where I have to put anytype of food in mouth to stop the insatiable hunger, when it's all over, the exhaustion that sets in feels as if you'd been through a 100 mile race or had been beaten up physically,. I mentioned this to my old dr. who was my pcp at the time, and her explaination was that it happens to her too if she doens't eat breakfast and that I'm to force myself to eat breakfast. she only ran a diabetes blood test. nothing to drink and be studied afterwards like I had to do when I was pregnant and they had to ck for gestational diabetes. no ones ever ran a low blood sugar test on me. should I request one? I forgot to mention to my gastro dr. last night when he called me with the results of my ct scan that I got two attacks within one week. they're becoming more frequent. I feel as if my body is not getting enough food when I do eat. I'm always hungry after alittle while after I'd eatten my main meal. such as lunch. I have to always be stuffing my face with something and make sure I have good supply to bring with me at work. all the girls tease me that I have a food drawer. they said if they ate like me they'd be the size of an elephant. I keep losing weiight. I'm down to 98 lbs. I haven't been that size since I was 12 yr.old. the enzymes aren't working. I told my dr. since I saw him two weeks ago that I'm getting worst. not better. I heard that it's dangerous to get low blood sugar and it efffects the brain and our organs from the sugar being too low. that the pancreas is making putting out too much insulin. does this happen frequently with chronic pancreatitis? do I state my concern to my gastro dr? I've lived with it for the past few yrs as I've stated, It could be no big deal. right? It's diabetes that dr.s are more concerned about going untreated rather than the opposite? thank you for any in put on this subject. Guest guest
, what you are experiencing is call hypoglycemia (Low bloodsugar). You can have hypoglycemia and not be diabetic. What this means is that whenever you eat anything, your body produces too much insulin, which lowers you bloodsugar too much, requre food, etc. You need to make that whenever you eat any carbohydrates or sugar, you need to eat protein with it and you should have a snack about every two hours. And yes, you should tell your gastro doctor about this and that it's happening more frequently. At some point in the future, you may develop diabetes, so you should be tested on a regular basis. Yes, low bloodsugar is dangerous. Basically, if it gets too low, you go into seizures and kill off brain cells and you can die from it. Make sure you always have food on hand (not candy as would a diabetic, because that would just produce way too much insulin again), something like peanut butter and crackers or cheese and crackers, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, etc. If you can't eat solid food because of pancreas pain, have nutrional supplement such as Ensure or something similar.
