Guest guest
Newbies, When starting out on the internet and on a computer in the beginning, many new users and email senders don't know a few things about typing on a computer. I used to teach this to university professors with their PH.D's! So it is not a matter of intelligence or learning; it is a matter of EXPERIENCE. When you get an email from some one, have you ever noticed how the writing just doesn't seem " right " ? Well, it is VERY hard to read with continuity emails in which you hit the RETURN key at the end of every sentence. Below, in quotes is the same sentence above written with hitting the RETURN key at the end of what, I think, is the end of a line of text. Therefore, some of you may have your " window " for the email smaller than it should be. If you are using Yahoo!'s mail service to set up your email, you may even use a the RETURN key more often. I think that this is what is happening with some people's email in this group. Here is an example, again in quotes: " I bookmarked it on my home computer. I'm a little leary about marking it at work though. I don't like people going on my computer and they're able to see what I've done. I clear the history all the time. and my cookies too. the computer guy would tell me I have no right to do personal things on the work computer and it's not our place to do that. he said it's for work only! but he'd never tell on me because he's fond of me. he shows it clearly and is always asking me to go out with him. I decline of course because I'm already in a realtionship. " [Note: I apologize for using your text as an example as it is not intended at all as a means of embarrassment or ridicule.] " I bookmarked it on my home computer. Here it is when done as I am suggesting: In order to avoid this problem, here is what you SHOULD do: Only hit that RETURN key AT THE END OF A PARAGRAPH. That is what most people do. Also, you may want to hit the return key TWICE at the END of each paragraph (as I usually do). This makes reading a better communicative experience.
