S,

I'm in the process of looking for dental insurance right now and am

afraid I'm going to have to change dentists because my current one

doesn't take any of the insurances I can currently find for individuals

since I'm now on disablility and not working. Unlike Heidi, my teeth

aren't loose, just decaying and breaking rapidly. Also, luckily, my

dentist is fairly reasonable. The appointment to temporarly repair the

one tooth that broke only cost me $40 and the removal of the tooth and

the replacement will cost me about $400. Luckily, I also have disability

insurance, which pays me more than just the SSDI I'm getting, so I can

afford to pay for this, but I'm going to have to get some dental

insurance to help with future costs.

Don't worry about taling about teeth cleaning. It's doesn't offend me

any. With all the problems with this disease, we learn to talk about

most socially unacceptable subjects without offense. lol. Part of the

problem that CP causes our teeth is the malabsorption, but also, the

acid from vomiting can also damage the teeth too. Yes, I have

malapsorption, but mine is still fairly mild. Not every one has it right

away, but it usually shows up once you are in the later stages of the

disease. I've had CP for so long now that I'm considered to be in the

endstage of the disease (burnout). I had my first official pancreatic

attack in 1986, when I was 16, but since mine is caused by a birth

defect, they think I've been suffering with it most of my life. Also, my

mom thinks I had two acute attacks when I was 3 and 4. I had attacks of

severe abdominal pain that they thought was appendicitis, but wasn't.

They didn't check for pancreatitis and it lasted for several days. They

took me off food and only on clear liquids and it finally passed.
