I have been on 50mg of 6mp since Sept. 06. My last two blood test

results show my white blood cell count has gone from 6.9 to a low 3.1

in 2 months. Anyone else experience this low of a count on 6mp? Did

you Dr. move you to something else?

Have you spoken to your doctor about these results? Does he seem

concerned? Usually when mine has been low I'm not actually on the

6MP and am flaring. Was your platelet count high? That's another

indication that you're flaring.

Last question, has your doctor had you tested to see if the dosage of

6MP that you're on is adequate for you? There's a lab in California

that tests for this. Its sort of expensive, but lots of insurance

cover most if not all of it(after some argueing). But it would be

worth it to ask your doctor about this and definitely speak to your

insurance company too to clear it with them.

Take Care,

From http://www.medicinenet.com/crohns_disease/page9.htm

" The goal of treatment with azathioprine and 6-MP is to lower the

body's production of certain types of white blood cells (lymphocytes)

in order to decrease the inflammation in the intestines "

What did your doctor say?
