Guest guest
My friend is a nurse (like me), and also had pain after her gallbladder was removed last year. I had mine out in 1992, and have had many ERCP's, stents, abdominal surgery, a bout of severe sepsis, and just alot of " what can go wrong, will go wrong. " My friend has watched all I have been thru, and was so scared that would be her fate too. My friend is in Indiana, and she had a sphincterotomy about 4 months ago in California (she now lives in Indiana). Her pain has continued, so I recommended IU, and Dr. Sherman or Dr. Lehman. She had her ERCP on Tuesday. I found out today, that both Dr. Serman and Dr. Lehman were gone, and another doctor in their group did the ERCP. This doctor perforated her bowel....and she is in ICU, on a vent, septic, and recovering from not only an ERCP, but an open abdominal surgery to clear out what leaked from her bowel, and to repair the bowel. I feel so awful....I strongly recommended her to go there, and she ended up so very sick. I wish she had seen Dr. Sherman or Dr. Lehman...but it is too late for that. This is a complication that rarely occurs with an ERCP, but that is no comfort when your family or friends become that rare one!! Please saw prayers for her, her name is Kim...and she planned to be back to work on Monday. She had just started this new job, and she will lose her job if she cannot return by the end of this month, and she will also have to pay COBRA insurance if she loses her job...they just moved so she could take that job!! She is married with 2 kids. Thanks for listening...and thanks for the prayers.... Debbie in CA
