Guest guest
Hi all, 's problem with having to get an okay to have an abdominal scan done, as well as a pelvic scan got me thinking. As some of you know, my pancreas is positioned abnormally, and doesn't cross my body in a lateral position with the tail being located by the spleen. Mine lays with the head of the pancreas at the right side of my body next to the gallbladder, and then the gland slants down, with the tail being located low in my abdomen, just to the lower left of my navel. Because of this irregular positioning, a CT-scan of the abdomen alone does not show my entire pancreas. Some of my earlier abdominal scans that were done ended up being inaccurate, until they learned that it was necessary to include my pelvic area. If the radiologist does a abdominal AND pelvic scan, then the films will show the whole pancreas, from head to tail. Consequently, my doctor knows to order a abdominal/pelvis CT-scan when I have my regular monitoring CT-scans done every 6 months. When the rest of you have had CT-scans, do you just have abdominal scans, or do your doctors order the combination abdominal/pelvic scans? I admit to being curious about this, because if both scans are necessary for me, they may be necessary for others, too. I know I can't be the only one out there with this abnormalty.......lol! It might be that sometimes when only an abdominal CT-scan is done, they aren't seeing ALL of a persons pancreas. Just wondering about this.... With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
All of my ct scans, and I have had pert near 4 dozen give or take, have been abdomen and pelvis. But I'm a mess as they say. Also I have never had a problem with insurance in regard to any tests. Glad your feeling better Heidi. Wish I could say the same. I think I am allergic to doctors..lol Chrissy
