I'm going crazy trying to figure out why my little boy's belly is so

bloated. It always has been. He has or had C. Diff, but we think

that is pretty much cleared up, the last month we suspected that he

had yeast issues based solely on behavioral observances so he has

been on Diflucan for 9 days. His behavior has been wonderful since

we started the Diflucan, but his belly is just as bloated as it ever

was. Do you see any suspicious items in his diet? I know some of

these things can feed yeast, but he had a bloated belly even back

when his tests showed that there wasn't any yeast at all.

very ripe Bananas

avocados

cooked, peeled, seeded apples, pears, peaches

cooked, peeled, seeded cucumbers, zucchini, green beans, peas, red

pepper, acorn squash, cauliflower

ground beef

coconut oil

filtered orange blossom honey

occasional eggs

occasional chicken

occasional almond flour cookies made with above ingredients

Since he hasn't ever NOT been bloated, I just don't know where to

look. He has been SCD for 4 months. His bowels have been greenish

since he started the diflucan, but good consistency and quite large

and once a day. He is also taking several supplements:

CLO

Folinic Acid

TMG

B12 shots

Magnesium Citrate

B Complex

Zinc Picolinate

Vitamin K

PhosChol

VSL #3

Melatonin

S. Boullardi

Epsom Salt baths

Are we going to have to do the intro again? He has improved SO MUCH

on SCD so I know it is working, but this bloated belly is driving me

nuts! I want to know how to fix it.

Thank you for any thoughts!!!

I believe that VSL#3 and melatonin are both illegal. I would suggest you pull

these. I don't know about the phos chol. You'd be surprised about him perhaps

being able to sleep better now that he's on SCD. He really may not need the

melatonin. You'd have to try that out to see.

It depends on which type of melatonin. I know that the melatonin plus

magnesium from Kirkman's is listed as legal, but their other versions

are illegal.

The VSL#3 is definitely illegal as it contains not only illegal

probiotic strains but also illegal fillers depending on which

flavor/type you use.

K

Hashi's, Fibro, CFS, etc etc (mostly healed!)

Son Rhowan 5 yrs old: chronic diarrhea, adhd behaviors

restarting SCD

Are you doing epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal. These may

help with the bloating.

VSL#3 is SCD illegal because it contains bifidum bacteria.

If the bloat doesn't improve with activated charcoal/epsom salts you

could redo the intro. Restarting the intro and then add food in this

order (You can start with veggies and then fruit criss crosssing back

and forth to acheive some balance and sufficient calories):

One at a time if possible:

Fruit:

cooked, peeled, seeded apples, pears, peaches

coconut oil

very ripe Bananas

avocados

Veggie:

cooked, peeled, seeded cucumbers, zucchini,

green beans, acorn squash

red pepper

peas

cauliflower (cautiously, since this is a memeber of the cabbage

family)

Meats NO particular order necessary, but boiled, broiled first then

baked fried. Less fat and skin at the beginning - since they are

harder to digest for a damaged gut.

Start with a little to see if there is a change:

occasional almond flour cookies made with above ingredients

With yeast honey may need to be reduced to avoid feeding the ittle

critters:

filtered orange blossom honey

By process of elimination, we have ruled out a food issue as the

cause and now I am suspicious of the S. Boullardi. Has anyone had

this cause bloating? He is taking it to fight bacterial issues, but

we think that is nearly resolved and our DAN said to stop the S.

Boullardi for a while and see if the bloating changes.

His behavior has severely deterioated the past 3 days, to the point

of regressing back to his behavior of 5 months ago. It's almost

unbelievable how much he has regressed. His therapist was at a loss

today to understand or explain the VERY significant changes since

last Wednesday.

I had removed all supplements except CLO, Vitamin K, and Mag

Citrate. Around noon today I gave him VSL and PhosChol and by the

time Dad got home, he was a different child. If I had not witnessed

it, I would not have believed it. We have had ZERO eye contact for

3 days straight, etc, etc. This evening he was looking at us,

playing with us, responding to his name, happy, etc, etc and his

belly was significantly less bloated. I am curious if the bifidum

that I do know is illegal on SCD, may actually be a good thing for

younger children. My son is 2 1/2 by the way and breastfed until 22

months old at which point, now that I look back, he started losing

his words and descending in his ASD world.

Anyway, we'll see what tomorrow brings....

Hi ,

Did you stop the S. boulardii yet?

Was he getting other probiotics (before you started the VSL?)?

What supplements did you stop and when did you stop them?
