Guest guest
I am still hurting in my right side 4 weeks after gallbladder surgery. It feels also like a burning sensation. I stay so tired all of the time. I expressed my situation to my surgeon and did blood work to check cbc, etc. and pancreas level something. I am scared that now my pancreas is messed up. I should be feeling somewhat better after 4 weeks. But, here I am so weak sometimes that I can't move around. If anyone has any info that would help me I would appreciate it very much. Guest guest
, Did you have lap or open gallbladder surgery? Mine was lap and the pain was not bad. It does take a while to get your energy back from any type of surgery though. I am really tired after my pancreas surgery. I think with the open more invasive type of gallbladder surgery that the pain would still be there for a while but I am not sure since I haven't experienced it myself. Maybe someone on here can help more. I do hope you are feeling better soon!!! Guest guest
I had laproscopic gallbladder surgery. When I went to my surgeon for my 4 week checkup, I told the dr that I was still hurting. He is worried because my liver functions levels are high and now is worried about my pancreas. I don't know much about any of what I am going through. I had emergency gallbladder surgery because my gallbladder was busting. All the stomach pains I have been having for over 2 years was misdiagnosed as stomach spasms or gas. ]
Guest guest
, I did not have much lingering pain after my lap gallbladder but I had a friend that did. Of course if your gallbladder was that bad before hand it may have some lingering damage. I hope you are feeling better soon! Have you ever had pancreas problems before? Guest guest
Angie, I have not had pancreas problems to my knowledge. Of course I was misdiagnosed about my gallbladder, so I could have had problems but not known of them. Now I have elevated liver functions and elevated pancreatic something. I am not sure of what levels the doc is talking about. He is now telling me that my pancreas may also be diseased. I am just scared. I should be feeling better by now and am not. I am thinking I need to get a second opinion, but my doc said I don't have too much time. He is a surgeon and an internal medicine specialist. I am going to try to get in to see a gastroenterologist to get some answers. Thanks for responding. Any information anyone can give me will be great. Have a great day. in Louisiana
Guest guest
Thanks for the info Laurie. My doc finally called me back today and wants to do a CT scan to rule out fluid in my abdomen and the huge knot that surrounds my belly button. He said that my white count is way high and since I have been running fever there may be an infection. I am so hoping that is all it is. Guest guest
One thing to keep in mind, seeing that you are relatively close to your surgical date is the possiblity of a retained stone in your common bile duct or hepatic ducts. This is not an uncommon occurence, although it is usually found at the time of the original surgery (by intra-operative cholangiagram). Depending on what LFTs are elevated as well as what pancreas enzymes are and by how much, it is likely that the first step at this time will be to explore that possiblity. You may be scheduled for an MRCP....and MRI that checks for stones or other obstructions to the common bile duct (due to scarring or inflammation). At this point, it is probably too soon to zoom in to the pancreas....the gallstone issue has to be resolved first, I would think. But then I am just speculating based on my experience with gallbladder surgery and pancreatitis, etc. laurie
Guest guest
Theresa, Hi, just wanted to mention that after my gallbladder surgery I too started having these horrible attacks with elevated liver enzymes. They kept diagnosing me with IBS or stomach spasms (for years). Finally I found out that I have SOD (sphincter of oddi dysfunction) and have high pressure in the bile duct and the pancreatic duct. I've now had 3 sphincterotomies with ballooning and I am still getting attacks. Although my liver enzymes are not elevated anymore but the panc ones are (sometimes). I now have daily pancreatic pain that I have to medicate for. And I'm assuming that I will need more stenting in the future to help alleviate the pressure in my pancreatic duct. I sure hope that they can find out what is happening with you soon. The sooner you can pinpoint what is going on, then the sooner you can properly take care of it. I hope it all works out for you Kris in TN
Guest guest
, Let me know what happens. I really hope they can get you to a GI doc and he can do the tests and give you info!
