Guest guest
Angie, That is exactly why I had to have a hysterectomy. So I do know what you are talking about by hanging out. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks when I had it done. That was 28 years ago. When I had a pelvic exam about 5 years ago, the dr recommened that I have my bladder done again. I didnt think I needed it,but beginning to think I may. It hangs out at times now. I will wait as long as I can tho. Too much going on with my husband and also. Guest guest
Jean, The bladder tack was much worse than the hysterectomy. I had it done at the same time, but they put a sling under my bladder. after the surgery my bladder would not function properly. I had to wear a catheter for 3 weeks and then self catheterize for about 4 more weeks. It was not any fun!!! I went back to work after 3 weeks because I didn't have any sick days left and trying to run to the bathroom and self catheterize with a mirror and all was a hoot! I work as a 5 K aide in an elementary school. So, I can't just run and take my time when I need to. My hubby had to help me with the catheter at first and he got really good at it! That is love!!! So before you let them do the bladder tack ask them about the sling and about how they will do it. I didn't understand when my doc told me that I would have to relearn how to pee again. I thought well everybody is born knowing how to pee it can't be that hard! WRONG!! But I am glad that I did it now because I can sneeze, run, jump etc without embarrassing problems! Guest guest
Angie, When I had the hysterectomy they did a bladder suspension then also. And for 2 solid months I was not allowed to do anything any heavier than lifting a cup. But it was worth it. The surgery did well, but as time as moved on, the bladder has suspended again. I really dont want to go thru another surgery at my ripe old age, but if I have to, I guess I will. It hangs out now under exertion and can really hurt at times. But as long as I can go with out the surgery, I will. Jean
Guest guest
Thanks Angie, I felt that connection as well. Heck fire girl, no body has ever called me amazing before. thanks for that. I dont get down very often but I am having a very hard time seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. I'll be ok tho. Having so many of ya'll tell me that I have helped them in some small way really makes me feel alot better. That maybe in some twisted way this has not been a cruel waste. I was 30 when I went back to college and get my nursing degree. I was just a mommy prior to that, with absolutely no health care experience at all. I got pregant in my junior year at MUSC and graduated 2 days after my son graduated from kindergarten, 1 year after my father died and my mother started having strokes. It was a nightmare trying to complete my studies taking care of my family and my mother but I graduated none the less. I felt it was my calling. That for some reason God wanted me to do it. Now what? Your pain is normal after such a big surgery. Your pancreas was manipulated very much. I would still give a call tomorrow just to be on the safe side, but having such pain is expected to some degree. Of course I have no idea how severe your pain is, but if it is enough to send you to the ER then it is surely enough that you should tell . I know I had a very rough time after my sphincteroplasty and was not even able to drive until about 4-5 weeks and was very swollen for about 6 weeks. My pain was much worse afterwards but that is also when he found out that the head of my panc looked like a " walnut " . 5 months later I had the Beger procedure, an organ sparing whipple. You do have stents in right? And those can be painful for a while. Have you set up a date to have them pulled yet. I believe they are supposed to be pulled at about 6 weeks. The stents can cause the ducts to spasm a little and we all know how much that hurts. did tell you that you could have a MRCP to check and make sure everything was alright. That might not be a bad idea, if anything just to give you a little peace of mind. But 2 weeks post op and having such pain is not abnormal. However if it were me if I was not feeling better by wednesday, 3 weeks post op, I would be calling or make an appt in the clinic for a face to face. Call tho, she is a great resource. with next weekend being a holiday there is no telling who might be there. So if you are not feeling better by midweek I would certainly do somethng before the weekend. Hope it eases up for you some, I now how scarey it can be. Please let me know if there is anthing I can do to help and if you want to talk on the phone send me an email and I will give you my mumbers. Thanks again for the great note, it does make me feel better but I have some very serious soul searching to do and the future really scares me. Warmly,
Guest guest
Chrissy, Girl, you are amazing. Look at what you have accomplished. You did it all despite the adversity facing you. That shows a strength of character that not many people have. Well, I just got back from the ER and I am passing a kidney stone. If it ain't one thing it is 10,000! I went in because the pain was not letting up but it was different than normal. I thought it was due to the surgery but I was completely wrong. I had blood in my urine and they did some x-rays etc. and said I am passing a stone. I have passed 7 in the past 2 years so you would think I would know what it feels like but things are so different since my surgery that I thought it had something to do with that. But it was good news to me! I can pass a stone I can't pass a pancreas! LOL! So anyway they gave me several shots of diluadid and gave me a script for dilaudid and zofran and I am feeling much better now. Hopefully it will pass in the next few days. Hopefully by tomorrow. I started straining my urine when I got home and I am passing crystals. What is funny to me is that they give me stronger pain meds for kidney stones than for pancreas attacks and the pancreas attacks hurt far worse! I guess it is because some of them have actually felt kidney stone pain and can relate to it. They don't have a clue about pancreas pain! I do believe that God gave you a gift of helping people and that you are using it here. I know you would be great back on the floor in the hospital. You have been through so much and can help people because of your experiences. God's timing unfortunately is not our own. Hang in there! My prayers are with you!
