Guest guest
Hi, I need to ask you a few question reg SCD-INTRO: 1. This is SCD INTRO, isnt it?????:::: ASD Intro Diet Since the many of the children with ASD were casein free before beginning the SCD™, here is a list of suggested foods for the intro diet. The intro diet should be followed for 2-5 days. Chicken broth --Chicken broth with pureed cooked carrots --Chicken broth with chunks of cooked chicken --Chicken broth with cooked carrot sliced into little " coins " --Chicken broth with " chicken balls " made from ground chicken --Chicken broth with " noodles " made from beaten eggs cooked omelette-style into a " crepe " and then rolled up and thinly sliced --Chicken egg-drop soup Chicken pancakes Roasted chicken Roasted turkey Beef broth --Beef broth with meatballs made from ground beef Hamburger patties Eggs --scrambled --poached --hard-boiled --soft-boiled --sunny side up --deviled eggs made with homemade mayo Homemade jello (made from unflavored real gelatin and purple and/or white grape juice) Made in a shallow pan and cut with shaped cookie cutters or into cubes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ -------------------------- 2. Did you start with SCD-INTRO with your son??? and what you give him to eat in first 7 days??? 3. As I can see SCD-INTRO is not very pleasant. 4. It says: " Chicken broth " -Does it mean that I need to cook chicken make a broth, but not to give the meat. Can I give the meat to my son??? 5. I dont see to mention bread (I mean brad from nuts or almod flour-SCD legal), 6. Does it mean that in first 7 days I can not give bread from Almond/Nut flour-How I will give him eggs without bread???? and can not give him any kind of fruit, juices, nothing else, just what is writen!!?? 7. The next article is BEYOND THE INTRO DIET and there are some Stages (1-5). ---Are these stages after the Intro, after the 7th day???? ---There are 5 stages-What is the period of each stage? 8. Nut flour is mentioned in Stage 3, how long I need to wait, or how long I can not give my son bread???? 9. How long I need to wait to give him raw friuts and vegetables?? 10. I realy like to start with INTRO but it is too strange, isnt it??? Please reply to this and will foloow more Regards Goran shumadd wrote: > > > > > Dear Goran > > I don't know where to start as there has been so much improvement in > all areas. Guest guest
Yes, it is important to follow the intro diet as it will clear out a lot of harmful yeast and bacteria in your son's system. You should expect that his behavior and stools may even be worse than usual. This isn't true for every child, but is the case for some. The intro diet should be used for two to five days depending on the symptoms. Two days of the intro diet is plenty if your son does not currently have diharea, or does not develop diharea during the intro diet. If diharea does become a problem during the intro, you should continue the intro diet for a total of five days and no longer. You can feed your son the meat from the chicken broth, but you must be sure to make the broth yourself. Strain out all of the onions, seasonings, and so forth used to make the broth. You do not have to feed him the foods listed on the intro diet in those exactly forms. What is important is that you use only those foods...cooked chicken or ground beef, well cooked carrots, eggs cooked any style, and either pressed apple cider(not apple juice) or 100% grape juice. In the U.S., we have Welch's 100% grape juice. It is not even required that he eat all of these foods during the intro diet. Some children don't drink juice, but only water. Some children won't eat the chicken or the carrots or the eggs. What is important is to know the list of foods that are allowed during the intro diet period. No, breads and other baked goods made with nut flour are not allowed on the intro diet. As for the beyond the intro information, these foods are listed to give a guide as to which foods are tolerated first for most people. Again, this does not mean that your son must eat all of these foods. It will be many months before you should give him any raw fruits and vegetables though. For example, my son has been on the SCD for 14 months, and can only occassionally have raw fruits and vegetables. We didn't even begin to try them until he had been on SCD for a year or so. Some people can begin to tolerate a few raw foods earlier. It is again hard to say when you can give your son the baked goods made with nut flour. Remember that slow and cautious is better than rushing. It will be very important for you to keep a record of each thing he eats and drinks each day along with his behaviors and bowel habits each day. This will be very useful in figuring out if a certain food or drink does not agree with him. It seems complicated and confusing at first, I know, but it becomes easier to understand as you go along.
