Guest guest
, I try to reply but somehow my posts aren't making it on the board anymore. Let's see if this one does. I have been through the stenting progress. It is my opinion ONLY that I don't wanna do it. I have had many stents and spent so much time away from my family doing it only to have to do it more. The surgeon says I need progressive stenting in hopes to get the duct to " scar " in an open position. Now we all know what happens with scars. They build scar tissue that eventually has to be removed. I understand wanting the duct free flowing, but in my opinion ONLY, I do not intend to spend my life going through surgery after surgery for a few months, days or weeks of no pain. I prefer to use Lamaze methods to control pain and then turn to pain meds after that. My surgeon also told me that if he didn't do this progressive stenting, I would have an attack that will land me in the ICU and then at that point he will be able to do NOTHING to help me. That was 3 years and 2 months ago. Cross your fingers please! I am getting nervous that an attack will be coming soon. I have heard that the longest anyone went between attacks was 4 years. I haven't been to the ER in that amount of time either. But of course, I do have my amount of daily pain to deal with. I have moderate to severe chronic pancreatitis and SOD. Mine is idiopathic. I can not help you with the hereditary part of yours. There is my opinion on stenting. For some people it works and for others it doesn't. You also have to decide if you want to spend so much time away from your family if in the end, you have to keep repeating this whole process. I chose not to do it. BUT let me tell you this, if it came done to being a life or death situation, then I would of course, for absolute sure, be doing it. Hope that helps in some way. If this does happen to post and you want to contact me privately, feel free to. I'm usually always here. :-) Sandy in CA > Hi all, > I posted in regards to IU and stenting and about hereditary pancreatitis. I don't know if they didn't go through or what. I hate to say this, but sometimes I feel that if one doesn't post a lot they don't get reponses. I pray for each and everyone in this group. > > I do not mean to offend anyone, but I am just frustrated that no one has > emailed me back. > > Thoughts and prayers to all! > > T. Guest guest
, Having had no experience with stenting in my journey with CP, I have never felt comfortable giving anyone any kind of advice about it. The same goes for IU. I've never seen a doctor there or been hospitalized there, so don't feel qualified to answer as to it's reputation. This may be the case with many more of our members, too. Usually when a person doesn't reply to someone else's post inquiries, it's because they don't feel qualified or experienced enough to answer the questions within the post. Please don't feel that your questions went unheard, or that you have to post a lot in order to receive answers. That's not the case at all. The reason so few responses came through was most likely because of the observations I made above. I'm glad that you posted again about this, as it did bring your questions to the forefront again, and I'm sure that will jolt enough people with experience in these matters to reply. I hope you receive the kind of information that will be most helpful to you. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
, I am so sorry. I don't have any answers in regards to your problem. I didn't post because I didn't have any info. I am sorry again! I did read it and thought someone would respond who had a similar situation. I have had the same problem before when I have posted and it gets lost at sea so to speak. Especially when there is a flood of posts at one time. I do hope you are feeling better!
