Guest guest
Hello everybody, I am confused by the doctors lack of communication, the endokrinologist and gastro dont seem to get in touch and decide upon if to take this Glucobay or not. The gastro doc left on vacation for 4 weeks promised to give me an answer but forgot? The Endokrinologist says with a laugh start it up and gradually take 1 tablet a day with you biggest meal you can get a little more gas but that is not dangerous (dont I have enough of a gasstation in my stomah) and some bowelmovements, we will get the food to stay a bit longer in the intestines and not empty so fast from duodenum and the stomach out into the intestines this is usually the problem for patients with stomach problems like yours (what, which diagnoses is he referring to) the intestines will not absorbe the sugar and the sugar levels will even out, continuing taking 2 and then 3 tablets aday. Because your blood sugar has nothing to do with diabetes only with the stomach emtying too fast. I want your report by August as it is interesting for me to know how this works on patients like yourself. Email me or call and I want to know how you reacted do you hear, I want to know..said the doctor and I felt like a rat again or a rabbit, using me for their purpose experimenting. I WONT TAKE THESE Glucobay tablets because the description of symtpoms when taking them " effects the enzym system, encreased gas, cramps, risk of hypoglykemia, etc " I am now eating every 2nd hour, just a littlen hardly no sugar at all and in the middle of night a small meal, that have kept me away from the worst dizzyness, havent fainted in 10 days, think clearer and no cramps in my legs, bloodsugars between 4.5-7 European standard and as soon as I get below 4.5 I HAVE to eat as I can get the chills, pale white and head turning around, when I eat it gets better. Does this make sense, I cant force myself to take a medicin indicating all the problems I just have enough of on its own. The doc said just a little gas a small social problem (he tells me!) I need to work, will he be able to have patients in his office while " gasing " I wonder. Just needed to vent, thanks for listening and love from Sonja
Guest guest
Kara Sonja, I can't make the two little dots over my " a " , Sonja, so you will have to pretend that they're there. My dear friend, I'm worried about you, and would have written sooner, but you can see that I, too, have been sick for these last few weeks, and just didn't feel well enough to write again. What diagnosis is this that the doctor wants you to take the Glucobay tablets? If you haven't had a full description of what your diagnosis is, and what the tablets are supposed to help you with, I can understand your reluctance to take them. THe side affects sound horrible, and it seems that they could possibly increase the problems that you're already experiencing. From what you've said, it seems that they have dismissed any suggestion of diabetes, in spite of your irregular blood sugar tests. Why? Have any of these specialists acknowledged that diabetes can be a typical result from chronic pancreatitis? It's almost as though they don't even consider you to have chronic pancreatitis now. I just don't understand. If you can wait for your gastro to get back from vacation, it may be better to do that and talk to him about all of this. The Endo can wait for his email....he sounds like he views you as a guinea pig.... That's just my own observation and you shouldn't listen to me...you should do what you think is best, but the idea of having even more gas than you already have isn't a pleasant thought. Have they done a stomach emptying test on you already? How is it that the Endo knows that your stomach emptys too quickly? That could only be determined if they've done a stomach emptying test, and I don't remember you saying that they did one of these. For your earlier letter, tack, is this right? I'm still working on the little words, haha. I didn't learn enough to surprise my brother before he had to return to Stockholm. He was only here for four days, and I only saw him for two, before he had to leave again. Did I tell you that he is a Veternarian and he works for the City of Stockholm as an Inspector? With his type of work, it doesn't seem as though your paths would ever cross. Please post again and let us know how you're doing, or write again to my email. How is your blood sugar doing? Now that I'm feeling so much better, I'll be able to write back......see below, With love, (kram), hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
