Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sorry I have not responded to any posts lately. Have been really sick lately. I just got out of the hospital this week and I am now off my Hep C treatment. I made it 22 weeks and then my blood crashed. Wow are these some wicked meds. I started popping huge bruises everywhere, was constantly dizzy, chest pains, trouble breathing and was so exhausted could barely walk. My MDs had been watching my blood but I crashed real quick. When I got to the ER my platelets were 14, Red blood Count was 7.4 and White count was 1.6. Other blood stuff was low too. They were stunned. I had just had labs the week before and they were not even close to these bad levels. So I had a platelet transfusion and was transferred via ambulance to University of Chicago from my local hospital (U of C is where my Hepa MD is). I got blood transfusions (Great, thats how I got this, yikes!!! Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.....) and they started me on meds for my low WBC and doubled my meds for the low RBC. They also stopped all the Hep C medicine. As of discharge, my WBC was still dropping. They are concerned that my bone marrow may be hurt. I was discharged quickly, so I couldn't pick up any bugs in the hospital, once they saw the levels were still dropping. (I was put in isolation in the hospital) I can't be around any people and when I go out of my house I must wear a mask so I don't pick up any bugs. I went for more labs today and am praying things are heading in the right direction. I sure don't want a bone marrow problem on top of all the other stuff. They did a viral load test on Tuesday and am waiting on the results. I sure hope it is zero now. Once my MDs get my blood stabilized and we know what my current viral load is a decision will be made on my treatment. I am having mixed feelings about going back on treatment. I am hoping since the meds crashed me so bad that it crashed the virus too. Will see. I sure could use some prayers that my bone marrow recoups and starts making blood cells again and that the virus is dead. I will try and catch up on posts soon. Have been too sick to be on the computer lately so am real behind on the group. I do feel somewhat better now and my energy has increased. So that is a good sign. Talk to you all very soon. Love, w P.S. Thank goodness my pancreas is behaving. Still zero pain and eating everything. Whew... __________________________________________________
