Guest guest
Hi Cindy, Welcome to the group. I too have CP which was brought on by about 35 years of beer drinking. I know it is hard not to stop and I am also struggling. I too have calcification deposits on the outside of my pancreas. The DR said that the enzymes were not flowing through the ducts like they were suppose to. I had a stent placed in April 05 and it was removed in June of 05. I have had 3 ERCP's and they are fairly easy. The nurses prepedme with an IV and hooked me up to a heart monitor. When they are ready to do the procedure, they placed a round plastic dam in my mouth and secured it so I would not close it. The then injected some anesthesia in my IV until I was asleep. They then went down my esophogus with a long flexible tube with a camera on the end. I really did not feel anything. The next thing I knew, I was awake and it was done. I had an initial one to scope out the organs, stomach, gallbladder, liver, and pancreas. The next 2 were done to place the stent in and to remove it. I now am on daily meds prescribed by my DR and have had a few flare ups since. I have returned to work for 2 weeks now. I have Vicodin for pain when I need it. I know what the pain is like and it won't go away until the DR's give pain meds via IV. It WILL double you over for sure. This group has given me support and has given advice and tips on things that I don't know;' have answered questions, and have even made friends on line. Welcome and I hope that you get through this ordeal and be on the mend soon.
