Guest guest
Hi! I'm new and in Australia! (Yah!) That's new for me, we've been living in Ethiopia for the last 2 1/2 yrs and have come home because my boys needed to. We've seen a Naturopath and a DAN! Biomed Dr and are starting the SCD as soon as (or before) the book arrives. It says it will take a few weeks. I want to start in just over a week as the boys will have 2 weeks school holidays and the Dr said their behaviour will get worse. Right now they only eat 16 foods, 9 of which are veggies. They are really good boys and stick to the diet well (gf/cf and additives, flavours, colours, corn, egg and sugar free too! Actually, everything free! LOL!) Their only treats are french fries and chips. But they have to go on the SCD I understand. So, my question is, is there anywhere that I can get a list of the foods they can and can't have until the book arrives. (It was $32 to order from the US including postage and $45 to order within Australia NOT including postage!!!) Gennie
Guest guest
You should read through the information on pecanbread.com. This will give you information on the intro diet, and how to introduce new foods after doing the intro diet. I would suggest reading through everything on that site. Meleah Hello everyone! Hi! Guest guest
hi gennie, welcome to the group! where abouts in australia are you? i am from sydney and i am part of a few great groups here that are really fantastic (diet and biomedicine ones) - email me off group if you want more info! we have been on scd for almost a year. i started it with my daughter after i heard a doctor from the uk speak about scd. you might know of her - natasha campbell-mcbride - or her book 'gut and psychology syndrome'. prior to scd my daughter was gf/cf, soy, corn, sugar, colours, flavours and preservative free, low amines and next to no sals... she could not tolerate sals at all. the minute i phased out rice and potatoes (the only two things she ate that were not scd legal!) alot of her symptoms disappeared (rashy mouth and bottom, bloated belly and behaviour etc). within weeks she could eat a heap of sals that she could not even have a mouth full of before... it seems that it was the rice and potato that were irritating her gut and causing her to over-react to other foods... i hope you find the same thing happens for you! good luck, roweena x mumma to audrey - almost 4 scd july 2006 Hello everyone!
