Guest guest
Hi all, Good wishes to all from the UK. I was away in Ely (near Cambridge) for the weekend, staying with my son and girlfriend. Other son and wife joined us. Wonderful weekend but panc really played up the first day, probably result of over-tiredness and a little carelessness over food the previous evening. Bad again to-day but this time it can only be tiredness as I'm back to my normal very careful diet. Bizarre and horrid disease!! Not only the pain but the " ill " feeling is so debilitating. Enough! I was interested to read references to lupus. I have an appointment with my consultant on 13th July when I should get the results of blood tests for antibodies in case I have an autoimmune condition which is the cause of my CP. I also have coeliac disease, a fact which might favour the autoimmune diagnosis but I think it will still turn out to be the hereditary pancreatitis which has been suspected all along. Having read descriptions of autoimmune CP, I don't think my symptoms and test results, imaging etc.quite fit the bill. On the other hand, my mother's symptoms (she died in 1965 of acute pancreatitis after many years with CP) could certainly be explained by a lupus diagnosis. In fact, she had an incorrect diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis for many years. When that was abandoned, nothing else replaced it but I have no idea what was known about lups at that time. Even to-day it's relatively difficult to diagnose, I understand? This is a new topic for me so I have little to contribute....only to learn! Warmest wishes, Fliss (UK) Time will tell. I'll share the results, of course.
Guest guest
Dear sweet Fliss. I was so sad to hear the your weekend was so cruely disrupted by this awful disease. Its like I was telling Heidi; even a welcomed and anticipated get away can throw one into a bad spell. that was what I dreaded the most and it got to the point where I just didn't make plans of anykind. It is such a dreadful way to live. That lack of consistency can be so frustrating to say the very least. Cambride is such a beautful area. We spent a couple of days there when I toured the UK as a girl. I went to the large market and had such a wonderful time looking at all the local fare. I bought a few pieces of jewelery that I still have. There was a place called Iklingham (sp?) that I particularily enjoy. They had a very very old church that was gaurded by two very agressive geese. I remember my father being snapped at by one that left quite a nasty welt. However it was sooo funny. You had to buy food from a local vender to feed the geese in order to pass. He wasn't going to bribe a goose and was rather empatic about that, well the geese had there own agenda and he was not about to convince them otherwise. The chapel was known for it gravesites and people would come from all over to to rubbings. We also visited a monestary ruin that was very interesting. I really loved my summer in the UK. I hope you find some answers to the cause of your cp. I know it would ease your mind knowing that what you learn now will benefit your sons and furture grandchildren. So when is Micheal ( that is his name I hope my memory is really shot even tho I cant forget Ant he's such a card) going to give you a grandchild? Do feel better soon Fliss and give Jim my best. Please let me know how your test come out but I do hope you dont have lupus; my father had it and its prety rough. Warmly,
