Guest guest
Hi w, I read where you have really had a rough time of it...How do you keep your spirits up? I have been reading about all of you who are going through tough times..I'm not as bad as some of you yet... I really don't know what to do... Sooooo this is what I started..I transferred my records to another GI I haven't met yet.I see him July 11th..I will take what x-rays, MRCP I have with me.It's Dr. is in Atlanta. He is in the same group as the doctor who did my last and fourth ERCP... Dr. C. acted like I would not need him any more after this last ERCP 2001. He sort of dismissed me...but I think his partners got on him for doing to many ERCP with stents. After reading everyone's post about how the duct has to have stents more often. That they close back up ( which I wondered about) I've put on so much weight because I'm always hungry..which is not normal. I have hardly any energy and my heartburn has increased...I had a sudden resp. infection... I think I feel something moving at times. This is why I think the stent is still in...I don't feel it all the time...I'm wanting this new GI to push on my stomach to get it to move..If this does not work ...well I really need another ERCP. on here also had her stent in for two years and they kept telling her it was out...They thought it was an air bubble. I have such narrow ducts bile and Pancreatic...that I can't see how it got out...Dr. C could not even get into my bile duct to measure the pressure...thats how bad it is...I also think that I feel it trying to get out the stent. Why it would not show up on x-ray is beyond me... Now, whom do I see out of Ga...big deal here...Who's the best? Dr. Cotton's group or Dr. Lehman's group?..This is if Dr. will referr me to one of them...Cotton is closer five hours away ,but the care seems terrible at the MUSC. Then again I would have to drive 14 hours to see Dr. Lehman...Two and 1/2 hrs from my home in above Dayton, Ohio. The drive isn't the problem as much as who would be better for me? Hugs to all...k in Ga. from Ohio , I have only seen Dr. Lehman when I have gone to Indianapolis. I always ask if he will be in town and only make the appointment for then. One time when I got there they said he was late getting back into town from a conference and I told them I would just wait. He was there several hours later. If for some reason he wasn't available for my appointment, I would reschedule for another day. Once I find an MD I like, I stick with only him. I have never seen any of the other doctors there, so I cannot give any opinion on them. All my stents have never dropped out after being inserted. I always have to go back and have them pulled. But each time, they could be clearly seen on the KUB x-ray. The x-ray gal always lets me see the film before I leave. You can't miss it. Perhaps your duct is closing up again? I hope you are able to find an MD who will help you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Talk to you soon. Love, w
Guest guest
, I dont know who told you that the care at MUSC was terrible. It is by no means at all the case. I have received all my treatments at MUSC except for the tp-ict and was never treated badly at all. Dr. Cotton is the primary inventor of the ERCP procedure and leads the DDC at MUSC. He is renowned world wide and travels often teaching around the globe. Students from all over the world vie and compete emphatically to even so much as have an interview withhim in hopes of being awarded a fellowhip at MUSC to learn from this 'master'. His associate Dr. Hawes is equally an excellent physician and has taken wonderful care of me. I met him and Dr. Cotton first when I worked in the recovery unit and would take care of thier patients. They both have a fantastic bedside manner and never rush their pts in the least. Every hospital will have its share of lousy staff members, espeically such alarge hospital as MUSC. However, the only complaints that I have ever heard were directed towards poor nursing and that was only once. In all the years that I have been there I have never encountered any ill treatment whatsoever. As a matter of fact, when I am fully recovered it is my dream to be hired at the DDC at MUSC so that I can join that outstanding team of caregivers. You need to pick an institution that will provide you quality care in an area which makes you comfortable. Dr. Lehman and his staff are excellent physicians as well from what I have heard and I am sure you would receive quality care there also. The proximity to your home town to them may make you more comfortable. I hope this helps you in your decision making. Warmly,
Guest guest
Dear , Good luck with your new GI. Let us know how your appointment goes. It's kind of nice that you have two very skilled MDs to chose from. I have never seen Dr. Cotton, but only have heard positive things about him. My University of Chicago MD sent me to Dr. Lehman, so I never had to make the choice. I have been very happy with Dr. Lehman and was lucky he could help me. I hope that whom ever you choose, you can finally get to the bottom of things. Talk to you soon.
