Guest guest
Sheila; Thank you for responding to my post. I am trying dripping my yogurt but have minimal expectations for my tolerating it even after this. I suspect it is more the casein, even in its modulated state, that is causing the trouble, but cannot know for sure; maybe dripping it and testing again will help? I doubt it is the quantity of microorganisms because I seem to tolerate probiotics and cultured veggies fine. Anyone else have trouble getting going with the dairy yogurt, I mean A LOT of trouble? I say a lot of trouble because my reaction (not GI, but neuro) to the less than 1/8 t. went on for a long time and was rather extreme. Are there any tricks to solving this? It occurs to me to go to my chiropractor and try to do desensitization. I am now preparing to culture almond milk. Arlene 39--on diet 9 mo. The goat yogurt has smaller milk proteins than cow yogurt. Dripping the yogurt may help - but start with 1/8 or less since it is concentrated. > Anyone else have trouble getting going with the dairy > yogurt, I mean A LOT of trouble? Have you thought about using enzymes to help (bromelain etc..) hydrolyze the casein? > I am now preparing to culture almond milk. Are you okay with almonds/homemade almond milk? Guest guest
Hi Arlene, This is OT for SCD, but I got off dairy myself because a hair analysis showed I am high copper and dairy exacerbates that. I do much better off diary for now -- that may change when my copper is at a normal level. My son's chemistry was completely different from mine and she said he would benefit from dairy, so he gets the yogurt and I stay away from it. - A Kugel wrote: Sheila; Thank you for responding to my post. Guest guest
I'm high in copper too! It took me quite some time of healing (taking zinc supplements, avoiding high copper foods and dairy etc etc) before I could tolerate the yogurt. Now I can do about 3 rounded teaspoons a day of dripped yogurt with no problems and it has actually given me another boost in healing and energy. K Hashi's, Fibro, CFS, adrenal fatigue etc etc (mostly healed) Kids: son Rhowan, chronic diarrhea, ADHD, salicylate intolerance (finally seeing some improvement with SCD yogurt and increasing Houston enzymes); daughter Willow, mild GI issues, salicylate intolerance SCD take two 1 month (haven't redone intro yet) > Sheila; > Thank you for responding to my post. > > I am trying dripping my yogurt but have minimal > expectations for my tolerating it even after this.
