Guest guest
I am not sure if I have a hernia or not guys. What does it feel like? Does it " poke " out? My pain on the right side is to the right of my incision and gets much worse when I lean over, push with a bowel movement, turn certain ways etc. My doc this week said there was inflammation in that area on the ct scan. Does a ct scan show a hernia? He was a urologist checking on my kidney stones so he didn't mash around to see if there was a hernia or anything I am just thinking that may be what is causing all of this problem. It just got worse in the past 2 weeks. I had surgery 1 month ago. Thanks in advance for any help! Guest guest
I am not sure either. I will see my surgeon, Dr. Adam's next week. This CT scan was done because of a kidney stone so the urologist wasn't sure. Guest guest
Are they sure it is not biliary? You can have an internal hernia. They do not always poke out. I would think it would show up on a ct, but maybe not?? NOTOFARMS2@... wrote:I am not sure if I have a hernia or not guys. What does it feel like? Does it " poke " out? Guest guest
Hi Angie, not all hernias are going to 'poke out' of your skin. It just all depends on where it lie. They can cause a lot of discomfort tho, I can certainly testify to that as I have had 3. However, incisions and closings are the best around and he rarely has herniations from his cuts. You could still have some inflammation and tenderness around where the 'plasties' were. YOu did have both panc and biliary ducts done right? How long has it been since the surgery? 4 weeks? It hasn't been that long. But do take your ct scnas with you when you go to see , I'm sure he will want to see them. My guess is that he will want to do that MRCP to get a really good look at your ducts, anastomosis and panc. Remember tho, a transduodenal sphincteroplasty is a big surgery and it will take awhile to recover from that. It could very easily be that your body has been thrown into turmoil between the surgery and those stones. That is a LOT to go through. Rest REst REst, easy for me to say right...LOL. I read the post about your daughter, what a wonderful child. Mine are like that. I had a hypogycemic seizure a few months ago and mine called 911 tootsweet. Going low like that is a horibble horrible feeling. I went to 30 a few weeks ago and I thought I was going to completely pass out before I could get the juice in me. Makes me scared to take any insulin. I hope you feel better and let me know if I can help. Remember, REST! Warmly,
Guest guest
, Thanks! I think the docs messed up! I got up this morning after a rough night and when I went to the bathroom I had several pieces of stone in my urine. After that I am feeling much better. The swore I had passed the stone but I was not sure. They kept saying that it had to be my pancreas and I just wasn't sure. For one thing the pain was on my right side and low. My pain is almost always on my left side with my pancreas and the pain from the surgery was higher up not low where my kidney was. Of course these are the same docs who didn't realize I had a pancreas divisum! They are the same ones who messed up my bladder tack and I had to self catheterize for 6 weeks. So I really have no faith in them now. I am sooooo much better today! I feel like their were pieces of stone left and they finally just passed. If I am still feeling better tomorrow I am not going to go to ton. I will call and tell her what's up. I am so sick of docs not knowing what's going on! My hubby said we need to switch all of our docs to ton. These docs around here don't have a clue! Thanks for the advice and I am trying to rest more, I do think I was overdoing it some too! You do the same girl! I hope you are getting better every day! Guest guest
Angie that is absolutely amazing and I am so pleased that you are feeling better. Perhaps the stones had left your kidneys and was in the ureters by the time you had the scan. If they were very small and granulous they would be more difficult to see. They could have appeared more as a shadow or just cloudy, similiar to how it would look if somebody had an upper UTI If in fact you are considering a urologist at MUSC left me know, I have a very good friend who is one of the best uro guys in town. He is also one of the very very few that specialize in women. As a mtter of fact, when I was trying to find a reference to add to my resume he wrote me the most wonderful letter of recommendation. So nice in fact that it made me cry. If you would like his name, and feel free to tell him I sent you, just email me. A small bonus, he is real easy on the eyes...LOL I am so glad you are feeling better. I had another day of over doing it. I spent most of the weekend coouped up in the house with the children so I just cooked and cooked. I thought I was feeling better but as soon as I start to do a little of this and that it hits me again. This is getting real old...LOL. I hope you stay feeling better for a long long time. Guest guest
, Thanks! I know what you mean about overdoing it! I get to feeling better and so I get the bulletproof feeling and try to do things and whammo! It is very upsetting. I wish so much that this will be over for both of us really soon. I cannot imagine how yours must be, it is much worse than mine with you having so many procedures so close together. I talked to today and she said that she didn't think I needed to come in since I was feeling better. She felt like I did that they missed it. In fact the ct scan was cut off just above the pelvis so they didn't even have the full pelvis in the ct scan. Now, don't you think they would need to have the full pelvis to check for a kidney stone. Does that tell you anything about our local hospital!? It stinks! I also asked her about a pain management doc so that I won't have to get my pain meds from all over, just one source. She thought that was a great idea. So I called to near home. One has never dealt with cp patients so I don't think I will use that one. There is another one in Augusta which is about an 40 min. drive from here. Not too bad and when I talked to them they said they had dealt with cp patients and done nerve blocks etc. So they are probably the ones I will go with. Do you go to a pm doc? Anyway, the lady I talked to at this office is supposed to call me back tomorrow after she talks to the docs there about my case. She said you are really young to have cp.. I told her not really that I knew of a lot of people younger than me with it. She then went on to tell me that I could die from cp. I was shocked this woman was saying all this on the phone. I told her well hopefully I wouldn't bite the dust anytime soon. She said her mother had died with pancreatitis. This was all more info than I really wanted to know. Anyway, I am not sure if I want these docs after talking to this woman. But, those are the only 2 I saw in the phone book for my area. I would be willing to drive to ton or Columbia so I am going to look in Columbia tomorrow and talk to my gastric bypass surgeon and see if they know of anyone on Columbia since that is where he is. If you know of any good ones in ton let me know please! Thanks, Angie " The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything that comes along their way.
