Guest guest
Judy: The " famous " Dr. R. is Dr. Rutledge. You can see him on clos.net. Have a gander at that and all your questions will be answered! I just turned 42 and I did have a mammogram, not just for the procedure (aka: MGB) but because I am now 40+ Of course I'm not the doctor, but I'm fairly certain that unless your mammo had a significant irregularity that needed extensive treatment (not cysts) you would be fine on this. Good luck, Sperb >>> JJWINS@... 12/12/00 01:38PM >>> Thanks to everyone for a warm welcome. You all sound like great people to be friends with. I have a couple of questions. Who is this Dr. R everyone is talking about and the manual. Since I'm new, I have no clue. <Hey that rhymed> lol Since I am 40 years old, will I be required to have a mammogram? I have cysts, would those affect the determination of approval? Any way I am due for my yearly in April. Thanks so much for caring. It really helps!!! Guest guest
Hey Judy, We ARE great people. The longer you stay with this group, the more you will understand that. Dr. R. is Dr. Rutledge, the surgeon that performs the Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) The manual you can download from his site www.clos.net ) and it tells ALL. What it is, what you need to do to get it, and on and on. I do not know about the mammogram. I think your PCP would answer that. Hope to hear more from you soon. Betty in Western NC Thanks for the welcome >Thanks to everyone for a warm welcome. You all sound like great people to be >friends with. I have a couple of questions. Guest guest
Thank you for the welcome and thank you Mark for all of the information! I have spent many hours searching the internet for more information about the recurrent acute pancreatitis caused by the SOD and it really helped my mind and my body to learn everything I could about the disease. It is great to know all of the information is now in one place, if I ever meet another person with chronic pancreatitis I will send them here first for information. My first several ERCP's I was either awake for the whole procedure or at least for most of it and have had doctors tell me " sorry I just couldn't knock you out " but Dr. Cattau (my specialist) manages to knock me cold out during and even for a while after the procedure. His philosopy is he wants you out and not moving so you can't hurt yourself. I also haven't had any bad repercussions from his ERCPs with or without the manometry with the exception of the last which was a sphincterotomy that he had to cut the major and minor papilla cause he couldn't even get the manometry probe into either inlet. I did have a really bad attack after that one but I feel better now and am even back at work. He still intends to do the transduodenal sphincteroplasty which he said would be essentially taking the pancreas out and completely reconstructing the duct (essentially filleting me! LOL) but I'll have to get a lot worse than I am right now before I will give in and have that done. I had the sphinterotomy done back in November and after recovering from that I still have bad days but nothing like it was before, Thank God! I have read some of you guys account of this procedure and am in no hurry to get there :-) Does any one else here have trouble when they are using the duragesic patch with swelling in the extremities. The last time I had to use them for a while I gained 10 pounds of water and had to sweat it back out after, does anyone else do this? Also does anyone else get " oil slicks " even with the enzymes at times? I can't really tie it to what I have eaten but more to my pain level. And has anyone else noticed more flank and back pain if they eat or drink something with sugar? I check my sugar when I am hurting the most and haven't found an increase in blood sugar just the pain...? Thanks again for the welcome and putting up with my questions, Shelia
