ERCP and waking up

Hi all,

I have been reading all the posts about ERCP's and thought I would " chime in "

and say I agree with you who have woken up during the procedure and pulled the

tubes out. I am also one of them!!!!!! What a nightmare that is. They, too,

never give me enough Versed, etc. I also will not have another one, but what

does one do when their pressures elevate? I know mine are up again as the pain

from SOD and CP are entirely different for me. I have had 6 ERCP's and a

sphinteroplasty and ductoplasty, which failed by 3 weeks postop when the same

pain returned. I have since had three more ERCP's and my pressures keep going

up. I have so much scar tissue now that they say there is " nothing else to

cut. " I know that it is possible for your pressures to become so great that

your digestive juices can back up and cause serious problems. Therefore, what

are we to do about this when we can't or don't want to have any more ERCP's?

If anyone has an answer to this or a thought or suggestion, I would love to hear

it as I know all the others who have SOD would also!

I have had an acute attack for 8 days now, but a lot of it is more SOD pain with

severe burning in my throat probably from the pressures and/or from my reflux

giving me trouble right now.

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Thoughts and prayers to all!

, I have SOD as well. It is painful, no doubt about it. My biliary self

destructs from time time. I say I will never have another ercp but the reality

is, that it has saved my life, litterally. If I would not have had it done, the

amount of sludge in my body would have killed me. It also made me stay in a panc

attack. I have incomplete panc div, so for me, though, you always have

options, If I never did another ercp, I would greatly suffer..thus making if not

an option. I just don't want one any time soon. I had 6 in four months. It wears

on you emotionally and physically. I am at my 3 month mark now. This is the

longest I have gone this past year of not having to be inpatient. I am liking

this! I am really curious to hear about sphictorplasty. What is it? Thanks!
