Guest guest
, After being offline for several days, I've just seen your post where you spoke of having an appt. with a new doctor and hoping to get a referral out of state, with either Lehman or Cotton. You spoke of the care at MUSC as being so terrible, and I just have to question why you would say that. Although I've personally never had to be hospitalized at MUSC, I've had several friends and three family members hospitalized there, and cannot say enough good things about the care and the quality of the staff at this hospital. The doctors and staff at MUSC saved the life of my sister in law, literally!! It happened several years ago, maybe ten, I don't remember the exact dates now, but my SIL Roseanne was in the hospital in Columbia after some problems with her Lupus and a situation where a surgeon there had cut her open from the base of her neck down her sternum and into her ribcage, doing a biopsy, no less... After visiting her there in Columbia, her condition was faltering quickly, so my husband and I made emergency arrangements to have her transferred by ambulance to MUSC. I met the ambulance at ton and assisted with her admittance to MUSC, and spent the next couple of days there with her while teams from rheumatology, auto-immune and infective diseases, gastroenterolgy and who knows who else met with her, there were so many specialists called in!! Then she went into a sudden coma at one point and then spent two months in intensive care in a medically induced coma state while they slowly nutured her back to life. It was touch and go a few times until they were finally able to bring her back to a stable condition and carefully restore her. The care and attention she received was truly amazing, caring, compassionate and attentive, both to her and to our Griffeth family, (her brother, sister and me), during the months while she was in their care. It was a very sensitive situation and I know we were all so grateful to the staff there for the outstanding care she received. My husband, other SIL and I spent three months driving back and forth to ton, and there were times we felt we lived at MUSC or across the street at my daughter's college apartment while Roseanne was at MUSC. I didn't mean to launch into such a long testimonial, but I guess that's what it is, is a testimonial to the top notch care MUSC gave her, and saved her life. So I would NEVER hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
