Guest guest
We tried it with our son-and we found it to make him very hyper!!? When I was listening to the music-it made me feel like I had motion sickness-Have heard this from a lot of people.? We discontinued it after 2 months.? My son would fight us and his therapist as well. [ ] Question Regarding The Therapeutic Listening Program NOT the Listening Program Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has had their child with Autism, PDD- NOS, ADHD or any similar issues has tried the Therapeutic Listening Program. According to our OT this program is different than the Listening Program but it does use the HD500A Sennheiser headphones. If you have tried it please tell me what you thought of it & if you saw the desired results in your child. I would like to know before I invest $145.00 in headphones Thanks so much! Guest guest
Josh did the Vital Links listening program and we saw huge success! Because of his sensory issues it took a week to get him used to the headphones but his OT was very patient - first day only 2 seconds with them on, by Friday 10 seconds on, I took the headphones home and he wore them the full 30 minutes by Sunday night - amazing. Through the 16 week course, we saw huge improvement in balance, focus, fine motor skills, he went from scribbling to purposeful drawing, his speech was a little bit clearer, it was amazing. Josh is not on the spectrum nor does he have ADD (at least he hasn't been diagnosed with it - I'm not sure) - he's got sensory integration dysfunction, hypotonia, verbal/oral apraxia, global dyspraxia, dysarthria, cognitive delays. This past August I did the Sensory Learning Program with him, which included another listening therapy aspect, again, saw huge strides including balance/vestibular issues looking better. It all depends on the kid. I can point to a lot of kids who have great success on the listening programs and there are an equal number who don't. Fortunately, I didn't have to purchase any of the components of the therapies either time Josh did them, so that was a big deal. His OT the first time worked through her hospital and they set up a " lending library " type thing with them providing the headphones and we checked out CDs as he progressed, returning them when done. During the sensory learning program, the listening therapy was done only in the clinic. As for the music causing motion sickness - I agree - it's horrible to listen to! I'm a musician and listening to one of the CDs really did make my stomach turn! But, I think for a kid with sensory issues and some of the other issues our kiddos have, perhaps it doesn't seem that way to them - afterall, the idea is that the therapy stimulates portions of the brain that are perhaps underutilized or are affected in other ways. So, with the success we had, I would urge you to give it a try. But, it is an investment - time and money. JMTC. Guest guest
That means it is working the stepia muscle but too fast. The right program administered properly can be a beautiful thing. > > > We tried it with our son-and we found it to make him very hyper!!?
