Guest guest
Deb, As an old surgery nurse (now doing research) I can attest that the anesthetic portion of the surgery is probably the safest part. For this surgery you are under anesthesia less than an hour (barring any surgical complications). Anesthesia was very good to explain the entire process to me and allow me to ask questions. They did almost a more thorough medical review than my PCP did. In addition, the nurse in preop holding (the one that started my IV on the first try - a first in history)also works with them and she was fabulous. I can't believe I can't remember her name. I slept very little prior to the surgery . For a month I was either too excited, too nervous, too something to sleep so I'll tell you I appreciated a chemically induced slumber. My suggestion would be to talk to the anesthesia group on the same day you have pre-op clinic. Just explain to them that portion of the process makes you leery and I'll bet they'll be terrific.
