Guest guest
Since there has been all of the discussion about the Yogurmet Machine heating to about 110 degrees, I took the temperature while making my last batch of yogart. My machine also got over 110 degrees. I decided to try the oven version. I used a 60 watt light bulb and put a thermometer on a saucer in the oven. Since the recipe says to cover the milk mixture, I just put the thermometer on the saucer at the side. I monitored the temperature and it stayed in the 105-108 range. However, I am now wondering if the milk mixture in the glass pot was at that temperature. At the end of 24 hours, I took the pot and put into the refrigerator for 8 hours. When I took the pot out and was going to gently stir the contents, I found a formed " cake " of white cheese appearring substance on top. Under this was a thin clearish liquid. This has never happened before. Could someone please let me know what may have happened? I drained the liquid layer off, and am now left with the formed white cheese appearing layer. It has a sour tatse. Would this be okay to eat? Thanks, Myra
