Guest guest
I was wondering how long you have to soak the beans before cooking them. I am reading 8-10 but for some crazy reason i thought it was 24. Thanks for the info Sue DS (SCD 4-05)
Guest guest
It's 8-10. I thought the same thing for the longest time, and I don't know where I got 24 hours either. They set me straight here though. It works great being 8-10 hours, too, because you can soak them overnight. Then, rinse and draink in the morning, and throw them in the crockpot for the day. Easy and yummy. I just made black bean yesterday. I threw a bag of frozen onions and bell peppers, the black beans, some garlic cloves, water and tomato juice, and ham bones in teh crockpot. I added cumin and salt for the last hour. They were delicious. Meleah white beans I was wondering how long you have to soak the beans before cooking them. Guest guest
FYI for newbies: White pea beans (A.K.A. as navy beans) are for those who have experienced quite a bit of healing - at least 3 months on the diet (diarrhea has subsided etc..). Black beans are even more advanced food and are for those who are symptom free. Good info at http://uclbs.org/tidbits/beans/ Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and > It's 8-10. Guest guest
Are they still SCD legal if you soak them 24 hours? Will they be okay to eat? Belle robin wrote: It's 8-10. After soaking, legal beans should be cooked(simmered) in unsalted water 35-40 minutes or up to 2 hours until they are tender before being used in a recipe. Carol F.
