All,

Okay people, I am literal to a fault and over complicate

EVERYTHING. Are we allowed to use any salt or spices and herbs on

the intro diet? I have my own herb garden and am accumstomed to

going out and getting some to make food, esp broths more paletable.

Chicken and broth without at least salt is nasty. Anyway, I don't

want to mess this up. Way too much at stake here.

Also what about meds? My son only takes a couple of perscriptions.

One is as needed and the other is supposed to be every day twice a

day. I would assume that is allowed on the intro also? Or do I

just hold off for a couple of days. You really can't help what's in

his meds. BTW, he takes pills, no liquids.

Thanks Wayne about the toothpaste. I never thought about that. My

son still swallows some toothpaste, but it's natural and not

artifically flavored, but still has sweetener in it.

Hi Bonita,

Salt is okay. Spices and herbs are not a part of the intro diet

(except for the soup see below). They may be introduced after the

intro diet. The intro diet is 2-5 days. 4-5 days is usually for

those with moderate to severe diarrhea and 2-3 is for everything else.

Onions, parsley and celery are optional to use to make your broth.

But don't eat these veggies when on the intro remove them after

making the broth. No other herbs for the intro.

We don't recommend stopping meds. Some people have meds compounded

but that is a personal choice (some feel that it helps others see no

difference).

You can use salt on the intro, and parcley in the chicken broth on intro. You

can add in fresh herbs to your cooking after intro, but add them in one at a

time just as other foods to determine tolerance to each one.

Thanks for that info. That helps a lot. I can't wait to play with

the herbs.
