Hi,

Is the fruit juice gelatin on the introductory diet supposed to be

diluted to half like the fruit juice you drink?

I've been doing the grape gelatin for seven years.

1/4 cup of water to soften gelatin

1/4 cup of boiling waterto dissolve the powder

1/2 cup water

1 cup grape juice

Using half watrerdoes not seem to compromise the flavor at all cause as

says, evb the

fresh grape juice, not from concentrate has a very strong flavor.

Another mistake. Oh well. I'll be adding honey soon, and if that

works out, I can do grape-aid jello.

I was poking around last night and found the following link:

http://www.scdiet.org/4faq/starting.html

It suggests that undiluted is what's expected in the intro diet.

There was also a section in BTVC that said the reason the juice is

diluted is because it lacks the plant structure. I figured (or

perhaps rationlized) that the gelatin was providing a more easily

digestible structure. The link also suggests boiling onions and

celery with the chicken to make the introductory chicken stock, which

surprised me (inulin in the onions and all).

It's hard to know what's OK when you don't know the why of the law.

The Israelites probably had the same kind of problems after Moses

died, too.

I guess the best we can do, is the best we can do.

Thanks and Carol. I appreciate your help.

Hi Wayne,

When I have made the gelatin I use at least half water if using the

concentrated juices or apple cider.

For example 1 packet of knox gelatin will set 2 cups of liquid. I use

at least 1 cup of water to 1 cup of juice. You could also use 1/4 cup

of juice to 1 & 3/4 cups of water.

Have you tried pearsauce? I've noticed a lot of people post about that.

The butternut squash fries seem to be popular too. Banana pancakes are easy

and cook if he tolerates that.

Sorry, saw your last post. It's hard to think of new things then you read

the recipes at pecanbread and there's tons of easy recipes. The pancakes

are great, a roasted chicken, yellow squash sliced thin and fried are crispy

in place of potato chips, same with sliced cheese, it gets crunchy and

tastes awesome--not sure which type though. Provolone maybe. Also adding

sparkling water to grape or Just Juice brands of juice makes a good soda.

Meatballs in stock with grated cheese...:)
