To those who don't know,

At this time the CSA or Celiac Sprue Association of AMERICA is suggesting that

all children with AUTISM be screened for Celiac Disease! There have been enough

cases that they no longer think that it is " by chance " .

They also now know that many Celiacs do not have to have traditional symptoms!

This meaning " asymptomatic " . Some can have no classic symptoms at all.

http://www.csaceliacs.org/<http://www.csaceliacs.org/>

This pattern is found in 40% of individuals with Dermatitis Herpetiformis and a

portion of first degree relatives of celiacs who have no gastrointestinal

symptomatology.

It is strongly suggested that family members be tested, even if asymptomatic.

Family members who have an autoimmune disease are at a 25% increased risk of

having celiac disease.

Sometimes celiac testing is ordered to screen for asymptomatic celiac disease in

people who have close relatives with celiac disease (about 10% of these patients

have or will develop celiac disease) and/or in those who have other autoimmune

diseases<http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/conditions/autoimmune.html>\

..

When one reviews the Celiac Story in BTVC they can see that it is much more than

gluten. So even if your tests are negative for classic celiac BEWARE! That

when the gut becomes out of balance and bud gut flora thrives on undigested

sugars and starch....this alone can mow down the intestinal vili and cause

malabosorption and symptoms of Canida overgrowth. Google to learn more.

This truly becomes a vicious cycle. The leaky gut causing IgG and IgA reactions

to gluten and other large proteins that sneak through undigested and igniting

auto-immune disease. It is of some belief that autism is of auto-immune origin.

Go figure.
