Hello all-

My son has been SCD since Feb and we have a had a difficult time

getting started. Last month he was doing amazing, but picked up a

habit of having his fingers in his mouth and began drooling again.his

red spots are back on his cheeks. then the " typical " eye contact went

away. he continues to develop vocabulary, but seems to be regressing

in other areas. like I said, we had a rough start and I wonder if

this could be three month regression. I have not made any changes

since May except to add bananas 2 weeks ago, with no visible

difference at the time. Could it be yeast with the bananas back in?

I also added acidophilus back in 2 days ago..but the problem started

before that.

Here's what he eats:

pecan meal

squash

carrots

green beans

yogurt-1 c per day

hamburger

chicken

pork chops

bacon

bananas

white grape juice, watered down.

Oh you experienced ones, are there any red flags here? he gets almost

no honey, 1 tiny piece of candy for every successful potty(1 every

couple of days)

The little bit of candy could be causing grief. What kind of candy? There are

SCD candies

you can make.

I don't see many fruits and vegetables. Are you avoiding fruit because of

concerns about

yeast?

You are describing my son almost exactly! We started in Feb too. He

has done amazingly well, but this week has been horrible. No eye

contact, regressing in almost all areas, very very very frustrating.

He never had red cheeks before, but now he does. Today I am

suspicious of bananas. For the first time in over a year, he did not

have a bloated belly today, but I noticed that maybe a half hour after

having about half of a banana, his belly was bloated, and his red

cheeks were intensified. So, tomorrow we are going to do the same

exact diet we did today, except cut the banana out. He has done

better yesterday afternoon after giving him PhosChol and probiotics,

and today was a better day than the previous three, but something is

not right.

It's honey toffee from BTVC

Ben is extremely sensitive and has reacted to the introduction of any

other foods. I am holding steady until some healing occurs. However,

I am avoiding fruit because of yeast. So far the only other fruit he

tolerates is apple.Oh, and I forgot to add zucchini to the list.

-I'm leaving on vacation on saturday, but maybe I'll try taking the

banana out for one day and see if there is any difference. When you've

made hardly any changes it's so hard to know where to start!

--- Hi everyone,

I've just finished reading We Band of Mothers (again!) and Judith

says that regressions at inro diet, 2-3 months, 5 months, 7 months, 9

months, one year, 18 months and 2 years are common. She corresonded

with at least 100 people who noted this pattern, and says these

regressions are temporary, and after the regressions, improvements

are noted. She tells everyone to hang in and don't give up, so it

seems that this will happen as healing is taking place. Hope this is

helpful to you.

THANK YOU!!!! We are at 5 months and boy it's been a frustrating few

days seeing these serious regressions. However, my son who has not

taken a nap since he was a year old, took a full 2 hour nap yesterday

and is in the middle of another nap right now. He is 2 and I think

this is a very good thing. I am hopeful that it indicates both

healing and growth (his growth is very stunted). And, because of his

regression we went back to an into-type diet and yesterday we

discovered his banana allergy. All this time we had no idea he had

difficulty with bananas. This is the second day in a row that his

belly has not been bloated. Understand that he has had a bloated

belly for a year and we have not been able to help so it is very

amazing to go for 2 days with no bloating.

Some children do experience periodic regressions every couple of

months. It can last a few days to a couple of weeks. Epsom salt

baths and/or acvtivated charcoal along with more basic foods (intro

and just beyond that...) may help with symptoms. Sometimes when the

children go through these periodic regressions they make a leap

forward in improvements after the regressions stops

You could try removing the bananas for a few days to see if it helps.

<<I also added acidophilus back in 2 days ago..but the problem started

If the acidophilus was tolerated before then I expect it can only

help.

No red flags considering what you wrote.
