Guest guest
All, My son is in the intro diet. He started in the late afternoon so he is starting the beginning of day 3 and he has had no bowel movements since the morning of the day before he started. He has NEVER had any bowel trouble, like clockwork every day for years. So, this is Friday afternoon and he hasn't had a bowel movement since Tuesday morning. That's a big deal for him. What can I do? He's been eating the chicken soup with carrots and boiled eggs or eggs over easy. He drinks water. I've tried increasing his water but still nothing. I haven't given him any of the jello. I found out a couple of months ago he's highly sensitive to salicylates, so haven't given him any grape juice to see if he could tolerate it. I know he tolerates pear juice and maybe pomegranate, but nothing else that I know of. He told me he didn't think he would ever poop again. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Two days of intro is sufficient for him especially since he hasn't had a BM since Tuesday. You need to get some of the electrolite drink in him as soon as possible. The recipe is on pecanbread.com. Many parents report that it helps with constepation. Also, chedck out Elaine's constepation protocall on BTVC web site if the electrolite drink doesn't help. Keep us posted. He needs to have a BM soon. It is not uncommon for there to be few bm's the first few days. You are feeding foods that the body will be able to utilize - there will far less 'waste' then before SCD. You can move off the intro diet now and start introducing other legal foods. Start with cooked peeled fruits and veggies. If he continues to have no bm then proceed with the rest of the constipation protocol: See http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/constipation ..htm Sheila
