Guest guest
You can't dump him, can you? Isn't this for insurance approval or am I wrong? The letter that Dr. R sends us via e-mail to submit to our insurance company should answer any questions this guy has. It just don't make any sense that these insurance company's would rather pay for all the expenses that go along with obesity, instead of covering a ONE TIME operation. I just don't get it. Without the operation we are looking at thousands and thousands of dollars somewhere down the road. And I'm not even talking about our quality of life and self-esteem from being obese. They just don't care. Plain and simple. They (insurance company's) will gladly take our money for the monthly premium, but when it comes to actually cover a life threatening illness such as obesity... they won't do it. It makes me so angry. I haven't heard anything from my insurance company, but I'm certain they will deny me. I'm not even going to argue with them. I'll just make a visit to my bank and borrow the money. Unfortunately, I don't have any advise for you, but I do want to wish you the best of luck. I do believe, however, that somehow it will work out for you. Pray about it. God will listen and lead you in the right direction. I'm thinking of you. Guest guest
Pat, Yesterday was the worst day for me, and I know there will be more. I just started my journey to the dance. I saw my PCP yesterday and like you he did not support this, NOR would he even listen to me. He said he would do the letter for me but not support it. I fired him and I hired another PCP today. I have to have support from both my local physician and my family for this to be a success for me. Let me know if EVERYBODY out there agrees! Guest guest
Amber, I don't know of a list. But it might be helpful to have a copy of your manuel to leave at the doctor's office for him (her) to look over IF you are truly concerned he (she) may pooh-pooh it. You'll have to admit, its a lot to digest ~¿ô I have CIGNA, a HMO and from what I understand is NOT the easiest to get approval from. But my new doctor says....she doesn't see a problem. Let me know how things go with ya...just stand firm. Sonya

Guest guest
Well my insurance doctor who does the approvals is a " D--K " (sounds like stick). He does not believe in gastric surgery for obesity and is now making me jump thru hoops. I went thru this two years ago trying to get approved for surgery, I got so disgusted and fed up and I gave up. Not this time, he will have a battle on his hands. Now I have to get a MORE thorough nutritional assesment and he wants the doctor to tell him what kind of EATING DISORDER I have. Why is it then when you are obese some idiots think you have an eating disorder. I know this is a trick question and if I answer wrong, he will say that the so called eating disorder will not be helped by surgery. I need help Doc......... Please tell me what to tell these people. Any one have any ideas. Pat Iurato Nevada pre op

Guest guest
Sonya, I have an appt to see my PCP on 12/19, when I plan to propose this surgery to him. I have been considering this surgery for almost 2yrs and have already had one PCP " pooh-pooh " the idea. My question is, is Dr Rutledge ever willing to disclose the names of PCPs for a particular insurance group who DO or have supported the surgery? That would certainly save alot of time dealing with naysayers. I look forward to being part of this list-you all seem so supportive and wonderful!
