Guest guest
Thanks, . I will give that a try. I would love for them to be more willing to drink straight water but don't want them to get dehydrated if they refuse to drink at all. I appreciate the tip! You could try this and if you then need to go 100% water, they are only one step away & would be more likely to enjoy the water. - dana pope wrote: My boys have drank welch's white grape juice since we started this diet a year ago. I feel it may have been feeding yeast and have tried to switch them over to fresh juiced granny smith apple/lemon juice. Well this juice causes some diarrhea. I have also tried them with steamed pear juice water. They don't really like this. What I would love to do is get them to start drinking more straight water which they do not do at all. How do you get a child to learn to drink water? I fear that if they go on a drink strike, they will get dehydrated. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Thanks, . Hopefully as summer hits full force and they are more thirsty, I will be able to do that. I appreciate the tip! Guest guest
This is what worked for us. Get a special water cup (larger than typical for a child) with sports lid on top. Fill it with lots of ice so that it " jinngles " and is fun. If the child is old enough to understand, have them pick their own sports water cup at the store. Dora, Blue Clues and Spiderman, make it even more fun. A new cup makes it more fun and special. Leave one out for each child, and leave them in the family room, away from the influence of the refrigerator (with the juice) and kitchen. It is amazing how during a hot day they will just go to them. Keep them refreshed and always full of ice. No need to say anything. I think when I hounded and moaned about it...things just got worse. They knew they had me then...and wanted juice instead. I tell them...juice is only for meals, and they don't get much even then. So they fill up more on foods than liquid. Just a matter of fact in our home. On the most partt they know I am the boss....or try to be LOL! kids are fun. They know how to get us!~ Antoinette and family of five silly Yaks SCD 2/
