Guest guest
Thanks, Antoinette! The only problem with just leaving a cup around for Garrett is that if he doesn't like it, he decides to play with it instead. He will sip up the water and then have fun spitting it out. I have no idea how to teach him not to do that. He only does that when he is not thirsty and does not like the drink offered (which is several times per day) and gets frustrating for me because just saying No and taking the drink away does nothing for him because he already wasn't thirsty. Any advice on that? Thanks for the tip about the sports cup. Maybe we need to spend a little more time outside in the heat and work up a thirst. Dana kikijabunce wrote: This is what worked for us. Get a special water cup (larger than typical for a child) with sports lid on top. Fill it with lots of ice so that it " jinngles " and is fun. If the child is old enough to understand, have them pick their own sports water cup at the store. Dora, Blue Clues and Spiderman, make it even more fun. A new cup makes it more fun and special. Leave one out for each child, and leave them in the family room, away from the influence of the refrigerator (with the juice) and kitchen. It is amazing how during a hot day they will just go to them. Keep them refreshed and always full of ice. No need to say anything. I think when I hounded and moaned about it...things just got worse. They knew they had me then...and wanted juice instead. I tell them...juice is only for meals, and they don't get much even then. So they fill up more on foods than liquid. Just a matter of fact in our home. On the most partt they know I am the boss....or try to be LOL! kids are fun. They know how to get us!~ Antoinette and family of five silly Yaks SCD 2/06 Dana and Garrett, 3 years old as of Mar 24 SCD One Year!!!!!
