My hubby was thinking about trying olives. I know the ingredient

Ferrous Gluconate is illegal, but all the black olives I find have

that ingredient. So I was looking at green olives and some other

colors. The ingredients on those look legal, but I wasn't sure if they

were green because they were unripe, or if they were just a different

type of olive. Any tips on finding legal olives, especially black ones?

We found black olives at Costco with nothing added. It's in a large plastic

container (not huge, just big).

My Trader Joe's Kalamata black olives do not have Ferrous Gluconate. They have

salt and red wine vinegar. I have not had trouble finding legal black olives --

prefer Kalamata for taste. Green olives are simply unripe olives that are

normally cured in salt brine. Black olives are ripe. However, there are all

different varieties of olives. Try looking specifically for Kalamata olives

(Greek).

Green and black olives are different.

I have found legal green olives and legal kalamata olives. I believe

some have found legal black but I don't know the name.

I found Krino's brand pitted kalamata olives at Costco. They are in a

refrigerated 2 lb. plastic container.

Ingredients: olives, water, salt, vinegar, olive oil

I have Krino's brand tahini from a regular grocery so they may be available

at other stores.

(If these aren't legal for some reason, please let me know). I only eat a

little at a time, vinegar kills me.
