Guest guest
When I was filling out my geneticist paperwork, it asked how many ultrasounds I had and any problems found. I had 8 with Landon. The second ultrasound showed a white spot on his heart--called an echogenic focus. So after that was found I had a level II ultra sound done to look at his heart, and it was confirmed that he had a echogenic focus in the left ventricle. His heart was functioning fine and no other defects were found. It was explained to me that this white spot is sometimes a characteristic sign of Down's Syndrome. Anyway, when I was filling out the paperwork I wondered if there was any significance to how many ultrasounds I had, but when I did a search the info below is all I found on the subject. Hope this is helpful, Tina http://womenshealth.jhmi.edu/ob-ultrasound/ultrasound/ob_ultrasound.html Is ultrasound harmful to my baby? Ultrasound is a specialized exam using sound waves (not x-rays) to visualize your baby. No radiation is involved.
