I just wanted to know if eggs from birds feed grain could cause a

inflammatory response in some people?

I recently changed to grass-fed beef/organic produce...and my

daughter that wasn't doing so well(who was starting reacting to her

very limited food choices)..made a fast turn around, she is much

happier :).

I think my son does better with grass-fed beef too.

I am going to change to pastured chicken this week as I am almost

sure that both my kids are reacting sometimes to the veg-grain feed,no

added antibiotic store bought chicken.

My son eats a lot of the organic-free run eggs...which are also

given grain to eat...

Should I consider better eggs too...maybe from the pastured poultry

farmer?

Thanks,

Cathy

Sheila can't handle any eggs that aren't pastured poultry eggs if I recal

correctly. I seem to remember other making comments about not being able to

tolerate either traditional meats and eggs or even organic(if fed grain). I

would definitely switch to all pastured meats and eggs.

Meleah,

Do you know how we can find pastured chickens, eggs and beef outside of me

moving to Montana and buying a farm? But that is sounding better and better

every day. (I hope you took that as a little humor and not smart-mouthed.) I

saw the Eat Wild website, but can't find anything near me. The closest is a

place on the other side of FL and the north part of AL. Both would take 6-10

hours to get there. I am trying to find somewhere that would sell pastured cows

by the 1/2 cow and ship it if possible and haven't had much luck. I buy in bulk

and freeze. I don't really like piece meal buying. I found one place in CA

that costs a huge amount more than any other place, but they do ship nationwide

and sell by 1/4,1/2 and whole. I haven't seen hardly any that sell pastured

chickens. Am I not seeing brands of pastured chicken eggs at the grocery

stores? I'd like to find something more economical since we are huge eaters,

but I do understand everything healthy is more expensive.

Yes, I have read that people do react to grain-fed animals. It wasn't an SCD

source where I read this, so even outside the world of SCD this is a concern.

D-Lactic acidosis was first discovered by vets treating farm animals, so the

animals are really not healthy on grain feed.

I buy pastured pork and chicken from a farm in Eastern North Carolina(I live in

Charlotte, NC). It is called Rainbow Meadow Farms, and they have great

products. They also do pastured turkey for Thanksgiving/Christmas time. If you

want a pastured turkey, you'd probably want to put in your order for that a good

month before the hollidays. Rainbow Meadow Farms does ship. Check out their

web site for their list of products. The sale specials aren't always current

though, so just reference it for the products available.

www.rmfpasturepuremeats.com

You will want to call Genell with your order. It's best to reach her on her

cell which is (252)286-4577. Tell her that I sent you to her, and ask her what

the curent specials are. She's great, and will be glad to ship to Florida for

you. You pronounce my name muh-leah if you were looking at a dictionary

pronunciation guide.

For beef, I order from a farm in northern North Carolina. It is called Baldwin

Beef, and their beef is sooo awesome. They also ship. I believe their web site

is

www.baldwinbeef.com

I don't recall Craig's number off the top of my head, but they are such a nice

family. Check out their web site for products available, and then call the

phone number listed for their contact info. I'm sure they can arrange for you

to purchase half a cow or something. They do also have bulk packaged variety

packs, burger boxes, ground beef boxes, ect. I love both of these places that I

buy from if you can't tell already.

For eggs, you're going to have to hunt down a local place because no one is

going to be able to ship you eggs without them breaking, I think. That's more

work from my experience. It took me a while to find someplace to buy eggs, but

it turned out to be only about 2 miles down the road from me once I stumbled

upon it. Just keep your eyes and ears open, and try to get the word out. If

you have any farmer's markets close by, that would be a place to look and ask

round.

Hi Cathy,

Yes, eggs from grain fed birds can cause cause inflammation in some people.

Last year after I was released from the hospital I tried eating a boiled egg

when I got home (quick and easy) I had immediate bloating, cramps and gas. I

sent DH out to get free range chicken eggs and not only did I not have the same

response I actually " felt " better.

Free range chicken eggs have a better omega 3 to omega 6 ratio than store bought

eggs (caged chicken eggs). Here are sample numbers
