Guest guest
Hi Dana, This could be just one of those quirkey developmental things that all kids do. Because our son did that too, but did grow out of it. One good thing about the water is that it is just water coming out of his mouth. Not grape juice that would stain. I truly think you hit the nail on the head...build up a thirst and then show him how good ICE Water in a spcial cup can taste. Do it outside in a swim suite and let him spit it out all he wants. It's so hot outside these days... I would not give in and give him juice until he drank the water. Make it a resonable amount with ice. " If you want juice, you have to drink some water first " . Then reward with something he likes to drink. A little bit of " ABA " can go a long way. Let his therapist help with this too. There is more to a healthy life than sweet juices. The reason I say " cold turky " and not taking the time to slowly dilute the juice until " water " ...is because I know that Kiki would Know what we are up to and it would be thrown across the room.
