Guest guest
I just wanted to reply about the chest pain. I do believe I get into the ER faster because I always complain of chest pain when I am having an attack. Feels like a heart attack, as far as I know. Boy, it sure hurts like the devil! Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- Hi I just wanted to first say hi, as I think you are new to the board. I have been around here about 1 1/2 years I guess. I haven't been posting lately because my house has been up for sale, but that's another story. anyway, I also have CP and SOD, and yes, I get lots of chest pain before a sudden attack of SOD. I also get some chest discomfort during a pancreatic attack too.

Guest guest
Hi, I have been a member for a few months, but mostly just read the posts. However, when I read the question about chest pain with an acute attack of pancreatitis, I had to give my 2 cents worth. The very first time I had an ACUTE attack of pancreatitis, I thought I was having a heart attack...squeezing in my chest, and pain high in the abdomen. It was a Saturday, so I went to the Dr. on call. The clinic's lab couldn't do quick enzyme tests, but when my GI Dr. heard what my enzyme levels were, he thought I should have been hospitalized. My pancreatitis, I believe, it lupus related. However, it started right after I had a cholecystectomy. For several years, I lived with the high abdominal into the back pain that would " squeeze into my chest " . Finally, after the acute attack, I realized that I had been having chronic pancreatitis. Since then, I have had a sphincterotomy which is still doing good, but I still have acute attacks. The other night, in the middle of the night, I had one....scared me to death, as usual. Eating always makes my pancreatitis feel better, which I believe is not a common thing. GOOD LUCK to all of you. Shirley > Hi I just wanted to first say hi, as I think you are new to the > board. Guest guest
Hi , I was originally diagnosed as having coronary arterial spasms, and even had the spasms documented during a heart catherization. These are also called variant angina because they don't follow the natural order of chest pain but the main point I guess is that they hurt just exactly like a heart attack. Anyone in the medical profession on seeing me have an attack was certain I was having a heart attack and the ekg would look like it too but the heart testing only showed minimal damage and diastolic heart failure, nothing that would cause the symptoms of the spasms. The treatment for these spasms is the same as I use today for the treatment of the SOD and chronic pancreatitis. This includes a calcium channel blocker and nitrates (nitroglycerin pill or patch), these also relieve the pancreatic spasms as much as anything else does. So to sum up, yes have lots of chest pain and there is a medical reason for it. And the treatment for the chest pain is the same as the pancreatic spasms pain. And yes it hurts unbelievably bad when it is acting stupid and according to my doctor it is just like a heart attack. I hope this helps and you are having a good day today, Shelia in MS
Guest guest
, Thank you for the congrats. I am still nervous about selling, but I just hope that everything will go smoothly. The only downfall is that I won't be able to go to the Symposium in IN. Bummer!! I certainly hope you will feel lots better soon. I had a doctor (a few years back) and he wanted to do a 24 hr ph study on me. I flat out refused because at that time he told me that I had IBS and that he didn't have time for me and my " problems " . Of course this was before my diagnoses with the Celiac and SOD and CP. Let me know how you do tomorrow with your test. I hope all goes well for you. Take care Kris in TN
Guest guest
, I once had an attack that started out with chest pain, but that was no surprise since I had just had heart surgery six weeks before the pancreatic attack. The pancreas doesn't like swelling of any kind in the abdominal area. Also, the pancreas is just below the aorta, so that could also account for why some people have chest pain with a pancreatic attack. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
