my daughter (just turned 4) was recently prescribed licorice root

extract for a hormonal imbalance (dhea level)i just received it in the

mail from the compounding pharmacy, i had actually forgotten that it

was prescribed last month before we started scd (we've been on it 1

month) i plan on making another appt w/ the dr to discuss it, but i

was just wondering if any veterans had any advice on taking illegal

meds, i feel very conflicted, i want her to be 100% on scd but i also

don't want to withold something she really needs. thanks!!

emma

1 month scd

zoe (4) 1 month scd

ava (5 mos) not scding yet (well through me she is)

Emma,

That is a laxative. I suggest you do not use it.

Hi Emma,

As Carol wrote it is SCD illegal and a laxative.

I have found that my hormone (PCOD)problems sorted themselves out

without medications or supplements once by bowel problems were resolved

and I started absorbing nutrients again. My doctor is quite impressed

with all the ways that SCD has helped me.

thanks sheila, i was wondering if the diet alone could make a

difference, i didn't want to neglect one thing at the expense of

another, but since she's so leaky they are my priority. i'll

probably just have him rerun the hormone levels in a few months and

see what happens.
