Guest guest
Is there any reason to avoid using half and half or cream in making the yogurt. I want to get some weight back on my child and need her to have more calories.
Guest guest
Our daughter could only tolerate dripped goat yogurt at first. About six months into the diet she could handle all cow. But some can handle the cow and half and half French cream to start with. Elaine never mentions the goat anywhere in her book because of this. Add it slowly, with nothing else to confuse you if there is a reaction. So that you know that it is the French cream if he does react. And like I always remind people...don't mix up " die off " with intolerance to the SCD yogurt. It is a wonderful food to add weight~ You can make smoothies out of it, ice cream and Pop sickles and if you handle the dry curd it makes a wonderful cheese cake when turned into cream cheese. Guest guest
Just check the labels to make sure they do not have any funky additives, since some do, but, otherwise, it's fine to make yogurt with half and half or cream. And it tastes GREAT!!!!!! Ellen 9 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for crohn's
Guest guest
I have yet to be able to find whole cream that does not have carrageenan in it. But Horizon's Organic milk does make a half and half that is legal...but Horizons Organic whole cream is not legal. This shocked me. I have also found ground turkey and chicken that is not legal. They put soy filler in it~ Always read your labels. Set backs can be caused by these simple slips. The bad gut bugs take every chance they can to ferment. Guest guest
If you can find a heavy cream that is just " pasturized " and not " ultra- pasturized " it should not contain the carregeenan. Most store are going to supply the " ultra-pasturized " because it keeps longer on the shelves. I have had my best luck at finding the " pasturized " at health food stores. GOOD LUCK!!!! > > I have yet to be able to find whole cream that does not have carrageenan in it.
