Guest guest
My 3 YO daughter (who unlike brother proudly shows me her BMs!) still borders on diarrhea and her pale formed stools still float. If big brother would show me his, I'm pretty sure we would also see pale floaters as well as their stools have changed identically since SCD. Did anyone see stools go from sinking diarrhea with visable undigested food to pale floating formed stools to normal (brown sinkers)? I am trying to figure out if we are just transitioning to normal or if there is another medical issue to be looked into. My daughter's reasons for being on SCD are she has had 2 surgical corrections of a diaphragmatic hernia. The second one included volvulus, obstruction and fundo surgery to repair a perforated esophagus and IV antibiotics for a heart/lung infection that resulted from the perforation, so she doesn't have autism, UC, Crohns, etc. We are in the process of finding out if her hoarse, raspy voice is caused by silent reflux damaging her vocal cords. Despite the fact that big brother has none of that history and has never had an antibiotic, but has the same chronic diarrhea -- both are being tested for pancreatic insufficiency (those tests take 5 months for results). It seems like they both have some similar underlying condition, but so far we don't know what it is. If anybody has any thoughts of further tests we need done, or if you can reassure me that pale floaters are transitory, I would appreciate it! - --------------------------------- Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. Guest guest
Hi , <<still borders on diarrhea and her pale formed stools still float. > Did anyone see stools go from sinking diarrhea with visable undigested food to pale floating formed stools to normal (brown sinkers)? I am trying to figure out if we are just transitioning to normal or if there is another medical issue to be looked into.>> Mine were like that last year after my medical trouble. As they slowly improved and I got off meds I had trouble with malabsorption that was when they were floating. Going from diarrhea to floaters would seem to mean that there is more digestion going on. For me I was eating a lot of high fat foods (I was very underweight) Are both of your kids eating large amounts of butter, cheese etc..? That may be a partial explanantion of the floaters. I had stopped the S. boulardii for a while and the floaters/loose stools got much worse. When I restarted the S. boulardii the stools slowly and gradually improved as did my digestion. I didn't use yogurt right away, just the S. boulardii and eventually was able to readd the yogurt. Now I have good absorption and stools. Guest guest
1) I really need to add the SB! 2) Yes, my kids eat butter by the stick if I am not looking.
